Makes it taste nice, gives it a smokey flavour almost. Recommend trying it, a few squares next time you do a chilli, toward the end of cooking after everything else has been added before it starts to simmer.

Cocoa powder sure but surely using a block of dairy milk changes the whole texture?

Dark chocolate, not dairy.

And no, not especially. It melts as soon as it goes in and mixes with the rest of the sauce. Not advocating you chuck a whole bar in, just a few squares.

While i'm on this thread, they need to start selling dark chocolate in proper size bars, not just those tiny bournville ones

im gonna try it next time i make chili

i've had mexican sauces made with chocolate though

for people wondering what the deal is with putting chocolate in chili etc.. AFAIK in Central/South America, cocoa is traditionally consumed with chili peppers. I seem to remember people there used to mix it with tobacco and smoke it too.

The grapes I bought this morning were too ripe.

What a DAY; has Man ever experienced such hardships? :(

I also added slightly too much green tea powder to my after meal cuppa, so it was ever so slightly bitter.
