Lurka, can you "free the realness" in a different thread please? We just ignore Fractal being pretentious in this thread, for the greater good. It's kind of an unwritten rule.

When is the next Rinse show? I feel like it's been ages.

It's nuts how much jimmies I've rustled on here just from talking about these guys, but now it's time to call it a day tbh. A mod and about five of his fanboys are planning to assassinate me, Julian Assange ting.

Yes, it's music that they like to play, and I'm with you on the influences. But don't you think it's important that these sounds now fit into one coherent set? Blackdown has talked about how, in the past, their DJ sets would be much more segmented. Whereas in the past they might have had separate grime, dubstep etc. sections in their mixes, now all of these disparate influences seem to be coming together to form something with a bit more coherence.

Regarding people trying to give it a term, there's been a lot written on this (lot's of it fairly interesting, I'll link it at the bottom) and I'm not entirely sure where I stand on the whole 'to name or not to name' debate. One thing I would say, however, is that 'getting aggy' is totally justified if the term is imposed from the outside rather than generated from within. It's all about ownership, innit?

Interesting stuff, which I've thought about before, I remember Mount Kimbie mentioning in that 'Post-Dubstep' documentary about how British artists are largely much more resistant to 'genrefication' than American ones. Probly warrants its own thread rather than taking over this one, but cheers for the links.
Perhaps the only two people who knew what they were talking about itt. Tbf, I'm disappointed in blackdown for not bothering to discuss anything and instead just feeding off the hype I caused.

I can confirm that I have no actual idea what I'm talking about.

Blackdown actually DOES this music, don't think he should be expected to get bogged down in our horribly circular debates about how to define it. That's for us fans to be lame about.

Yeah, I'm sure he has nothing better to be doing.

ANYWAY....

Show is this thursday yeah? Looking forward. Seems like it's been ages.

Also, does anyone know if Sully has any plans to release any of this jungle biz? It's tasty.

It's not showing up on the rinse schedule which is concerning me a little.

Agreed, they definitely warrant a release, especially 'simple things'. Do hope he doesn't abandon the garagey stuff altogether though (mostly cus I can't mix jungle for shit).
