Sincere question here: what's the general consensus on this track:

I know it's brostep and is lightyears away from the original sound, but to me it's still really complex and melodic, has plenty of sub, and a focus on neuro-esque reeses as opposed to a hodgepodge of different sounds that don't particularly fit together. It's also got a melody that actually seems to go somewhere. To me it's infinnitly better than half the guys making brostep today (albeit I know to most of you that's like saying it's better than being incredibly awful). What are people's thoughts?

I don't really understand why we're not allowed to post funny Skrillex jpegs/gifs anymore? The two times in this thread that happened were the funniest bits of it.

Yeah big up Jesus for dying for our sins and netting us a public holiday in the process.

Also, hot cross buns.

I like that one. Tasha Baxter is a great vocalist as well. Her voice in Cloudburn is :i: :i:
Feed Me or Spor or w/e he's called has some spot on growls. Pink Lady is a banger too

thoughts on Giant?

Personally, i don't tag them as brostep.
1, because i listen to them.
2, they're signed to Hench.
3, their production is actually good, not under-produced, lots of thought seems to go into their production.

but at the same token, lots of mid-range/higher noises, sometimes honestly lacking sub, but i love their tunes, really dig Giant.

yeah i hate the word swag too.

Mensah used the word Funk, pretty much exactly what Jakes said but replace swag with Funk, i think it sounds a lot better too.

I like Feed Me/Spor when he doesn't try too hard to be Skrillex.

Strange Behaviour is a big tune, I definitely like Feed Me more than most other bro artists. I like his electro house too. That Jakes quote is pretty much spot on too, which is why I don't consider Koan Sound brostep despite the sounds they use and the producers they associate with

I agree in that his recent output has been far too similar to skrillex, and I don't like it at all, but it's a hell of a lot more listanable than skrillex. And he's far more talented than skrillex could ever dream of being IMO. He has so many neuro classics.

This, if I can groove to it then it's not brostep in my book

I think what we're trying to say here is "brostep is 140bpm edm that I DON'T like, and dubstep is 140bpm edm that I DO like"

.... Just read the title of the main thread, then realise that the majority of the people on DSF are on the deeper vibe, the original sounds.
I just thought it was the captain obvious that didn't need repeating, known fact little brother!

now that is cleared up, :w: :w: :w: :w: :w:
