@ DROPK: Ok first off you should give your own FB to at least 3 people before you ask for FB on your stuff. But I listened anyway, and I'm glad I did. Dude the atmosphere for this is just AWESOME. Dude, how'd you make the lead synth? Square waves am I right? Dude I love it. But you should work on this thing called EQ'ing and take the low end off the wobble itself and put a sub bass under the wub. It'll make it cleaner. But overall really good IMO.

@ BUDSPENCERTRON: Dude wtf lmfao. This is jolly. I'm lovin it right now dude, so tight. boom tickshhh boom bo- ticksh. Maybe more high end on the wub but you know, whateva.

@ FDS: You need to give your shit more high end and lower the fuckin sub bass man, that shit's annoying.

Here is my I ♥ Illuminati WIP:

Soundcloud

Comin along pretty good but I'd like to know if the verses and chorus transition well into eachother, and also how's the low end? Is it muddy to anyone else?

@ChadDub : Nice ambience, good work on the hats i'm lovin' it. The violin sounds really synthetic but I know it's hard to find a good one. Nice track.

@BudSpencertron : Nice track, i really like your drums on this one. A bit too much OY OY but i don't really like that sound so don't mind it. Very good track.

@dropK : I like the intro, but the whole mix seems to be clipping. For a first one, you did anyway a really nice job on this. Well done.

Here's mine. I sent a clip of this a few days ago with a very early mixdown. Now I think i'm done with this track. Here it is

Man my friend said it was too synthy too! I'm like DUDE ITS A VIOLIN! I think the violin sounds pretty good but idk lol, every time I do something with the stock FL Studio Violins and Pianos people are always like "dude that sounds so fake" XD.

Thanks though man, appreciate it.

@DarJ
I like what you have there, reminds me of old Rusko stuff. I recon you could make it a bit more "anthemic" by removing some of the kicks and snares and leaving just a stripped down halftime beat.

@Bud Spencerton
That's funky man, really liking it so far! Maybe drop in a pad during the main sections on the intro. And maybe more variation on the Modern talk sound, like speeding up the yoys and stuff, different LFO rates. One thing I really love is the percussion, really shuffly and skanky. You ever made 2step/UKG?

@Standby
Your tune's deep man, real smooth. One thing is maybe bring the tempo down a bit, and then introduce some more alternative percussion sounds, throw them off beat, give it more shuffle. I like what you've done with the hats man, large! Also, tried a little bit of delay on the piano? Give it an airy feel perhaps?

Nice work guys, look forward to hearing end products!

Tune I'd like reviewed is this. What d'you make of it? Any suggestions?

Thanks for the feedback, guys!

And yes, the lead is based on mostly square-waves in Massive.

How am I supposed to do the sub besides the wobble? I'm new to dubstep and I've always wanted to produce it, so it would be kind if you gave me some advice :z:

@ Darj - Hectic tune there, well produced, does get a tad repetitive though. Snare could do with being a bit cleaner and more prominent in the mix, overall, great work. Loving the vocals in there.

@ Zebraman - Lovely vibes, really enjoyed this, proper laid back little number, wasnt feeling the yoy what so ever, totally out of place if you ask me. Look forward to the finished article.

@BudSpencertron - Quality, on second play now, nothing to say crit wise really, excellent job so far!

Here be my little effort from today, no intro yet, straight from the drop...

@ Darj - loved the vocals in your tune but it was a bit oldschool dubstep for me:D but great job!

@ zerbaman - nice chill out tune!

@ Echoi - imo the drop is too empty, I think it needs some other sounds

@standby - I like the vibe on this a lot, that piano needs exploring, and I'd suggest some long delay and reverb on it, it'll make it all enveloping and make more of a feature of it than presently (not that what's there now isn't really nice). The chord progression is very nice indeed.

@zerbaman - Reload/Link/Global Communications/Jedi Knights written all over this. Like.

@pavvel - I don't usually go in for stuff like this, but I have to give you props for the production values, the only suggestion I'd make is more variation in the bassline (key change or similar sooner)

@echoi - I really like the a-tonal synth sounds after the first drop 1:10 onwards, although I think you need to bring the beats back sooner. I like the transition in tonality at 1:38, I'd go for more of that instead of the super resonant sound it has earlier.

@daniraw - not really to my taste, but the only thing I'd say is that those lead sounds would tear eardrums apart :P

@laktic - Love the vibes, the sustained chords/breathing and the percussion particularly. Nice late night mixer/listener. At the end of every 8 bars I'd look at doing something with the bassline to cue the end of each section. Very clean production too. Great track

thanks everyone again

@echoi love the compression on the bassdrum really punchy ,nice sub for sure what i could see too is like a really destroyed grime sentence or statement at some places like with tube or vocoder and tube ,stuff like that would make it even more dark; you could maybe try like after the drop maybe 8 bars first melody then short space same melody down 5 semi tone or up 7 ,12 what ever fits most.

@zebraman the fuuuuuunk haha melody is so ingenious haha but maybe try either to integrate the oi more or leave it totally, i have the feeling a yoi melody section would be so funky haha (listen to lots and lots of uk funky, garage etc myself to answer your question)

@standby really nice piano ,like REALLY nice ! mixdown is superb in my opinion, dont know maybe take some finished idm tunes like from ochre kelpe plaid and look if you could add some elements they use?

@laktic love the garage vibe dont know is very short to see where its going but the start is very solid; really nice breathing hi hatish sounds :W:

@daniraw dig the start more then the actual drop to be honest got a really nice vibe and a nice sub maybe you make a tune out of this part ?

finished my tunes more or less might have a listen if you want

@Laktic
The drums on this are pretty sick man, really shuffly :) Wish the kick boomed a bit more. But there's a nice lounge quality to your tune :)
Vocals sound great too man!

@Daniraw
General mixdown thing, probably best left to the end: I feel the tune lacks in high end, like the higher bands sound a bit empty. I like your idea of blending deep and brostep, and your patches sound pretty nice, but I think that part is offkey to the rest? Maybe it just doesn't work on this tune? Just a personal opinion.

@Echoi
I think your tune needs a melody, that twinkly pad thing is alright, but sounds off again? Maybe I'm hearing shit

And guys, thanks for the feedback, I'll try something else instead of the YOY.

If it isn't too much to ask, I uploaded another WIP today, and am wondering what you guys make of it:

@dropK: Good (If i keep in mind it's your first track). Too much compression! seems like you don't really know what a compressor/limiter does. You should stay away from these tools for now ;)
Basslines sounds good but there is too less pressure. Also it sounds very empty. 3/10 :)

@Darj: overused vocal ;) drums need more pressure. Bassline sounds nice and has many variations, i like it! but the sound is too thin if you ask me, try adding a stereo layer. 5/10

@zerbaman: minimal dubstep... nice experimental sounds. and there is enough stuff in the background going on. harmonies are fine bassline is deep and fat. Not bad, but it could have more memorable elements, after a minute i forgot how it sounded. 5/10

@pavvel: Nice! This definitely has some good pressure going on. YAYA-sound is overused if you ask me - but i use it too very often... ;) 7/10

@daniraw: You're right it definitely need more sounds. sounds really empty. Get a better piano VST! Is this FL Keys? Bassline sounds ok but nothing special. 3/10

Here's my improved try on dark dubstep bass... Feedback very welcome!

I read as I was getting my track ready to post about others songs first, so Ill do that right now. I fell asleep with a glass of wine in my hand and spilt it all over my laptop an now my internet goes real slow.. its weird, cos my lappy still works normal with other programs.

Anyway, here is a WIP, theres some parts where i made a bar or so of a sound im trying to achieve and hopefully with some help ill get on the right road to making it.
Since I uploaded this, Ive added a Mid bass and the sub bass. what I really have trouble with is making intros, from my background, intros usually justa differnt riff, not too far from the main part. what ive found with dubstep songs i like, is the balance of tension an release. so the intro is not what i really want but, for I think, the 2nd 'song' ive tried to get atleast all the way through with some sort of song structure, i am kinda happy with myself, i dont want to be a pro producer or even have my songs played on anything other than my laptop through my headphones into MY ears. actually, im not that happy, im just kinda suprised I made it through this far.

the bars at the very end and the bar at before the 2nd 'intro' riff is just a bar im trying to figure out, its in nearly every dubstep track just that slowed down or sped up LFO rate with some kind of modulation to make it sound like a whirring shuttering rewind. i think anyway.

again, im just playin around an im sure that will come across in the song.
the samples I used were the sample track I made up for a song I had for my hardcore band Abraxis on my last 7'' split. thought i could use it here, thanks. like i said in other posts, anyone willing to help me out abit, ill send you a LP of my hardcore band if your into heavy stuff. for free, honest to god, cheers

Andy

PS, im gonna try to listen to some, but i cant get my net to work properly, wine onto my laptop made it go slow, like 3 k a sec. it took half an hour to upload to soundcloud

@Zerbaman Really diggin' this track! Love the drums and the bass! How did you make that bass?

@BudSpecertron - Really nice and chilled track. If I were you, I'd remove the vocals. But maybe that's just beucase I'm no vocal-kinda-guy. ;)

@ - Nice track, love the atmosphere. Maybe you should add something more in the beginning and around 1:00, to go with the piano as it gets a little boring listening to the piano only. :)

Heres my WIP, all feedback is appreciated! :)
