I'm not in that part of the world, but that's awesome!

I thought they played house in RAGE, and hardcore, at least thats what i learned from watching the documentary Pump Up The Volume
Anyway if they opened up and played Jungle like before, i doubt it would be successful. i don't know how alive the scene is there in London, but i just went to see Remarc last sunday at the National Underground here in manhattan and considering how much of a legend Remarc is, it was only 30-40 people in that place (also cuz the place was so tiny).
makes me wonder just how popular the night would be, specially if all they are gonna do is play the old tracks. playing new sounds would be better fit, but then it wouldnt be the same RAGE.

Really getting into the old hardcore tip atm, and there's new labels putting out plates of tunes in the old style of hardcore or jungle like sci wax or repeat offender recordings. Great stuff, would be awesome to go to nights mixing new stuff with the original tunes.
But yeah, wish I could have caught a remarc show; I hear his set was awesome in AZ. A few years back I brought Fanu and the same thing happend; about only 40 people showed up, but man he played a 2 hour set and everyone in that fucker was getting down. Lost some money with the show, but man it was so fucking worth it! lol it was like a 3 day acid trip; one of the cleanest trips I've ever taken!
Don't know where I was going with that, but yeah FUCKING JUNGLE!!

Too many classics to mention really... DMZ-like label would be Sub-base or Reinforced... For me the Anti-war Dub of jungle is the RIP remix by DJ Hype or anything by Tom & Jerry, Nookie, Danny Breaks, Bukem and his crew...

As for DMZ releases of Jungle, that one's pretty difficult for oldschool jungle, as it was a completely different time from nowadays; All the labels were vinyl only as there was no digital.

as far as DMZ ish.... probably Renegade Hardware to be honest. I'd have said Metalheadz but they had some stagnate years and moving shadow just had far more releases than DMZ ever will.
But hardware is a lot like DMZ. Standard pace of massive singles and then massive legendary albums
Rönin wrote:Always seen Renegade Hardware as a drum & bass label...
Also
i thought he meant as a label... like DMZ the label
if they mean DMZ the group its def Origin Unknown (Andy C and Ant Miles) for the earlier generation and later Bad Company as far importance together and apart, big labels run by them, etc

Hahaha! No.
More like early 'Headz or early 'R (Reinforced).. in terms of identity and quality control at least

Metalheadz was irrelevant for a very very long time.... most of the early 00's and I'd argue didn't become relevant again until (an american) Hive saved the label
between the first box set and Hives single metalheadz was garrrrrrrrrrrrrrbage
Also.... reinforced wasn't really as dominant a label as people should believe. In hardcore/early jungle they were must haves but about 97/8 they started being hit or miss with a LOT of filler. They weren't fire guaranteed must have releases. DMZ i think of as must haves. Hardware records were must haves. They've always set the pace for things in the scene.... when shit was changing they were always ahead of the curve... theyve been on some MAJOR artists early and are king makers tbh. Outside battle of the breaks reinforced began to be irrelevant in 97/8
and battle of the breaks is only mandatory because of two tunes
We might not have the same definition of jungle. for me 97-98 was precisely when it began going downhill. When I hear the world jungle I hear cutting breaks, soul samples and looooow basslines, not a repetitive Dylan tune in 98 using the 2 same bars of bassline for 7 minutes
Edit just to specify I'm entitled to my opinion

How can you talk of breaks and shit on Dylan in the same sentence? Dylan was one of the last great break saviours of drum and bass.
Dylan, Loxy, Facs, B-Key, that whole camp is harder than a witches nipples in a snow storm
I think the difference in our definitions is you separate jungle and drum and bass as two separate things when a lot of us who were around through it all think of it as just evolution of all the same shit.
When alien girl and a lot of prototype, hard leaders, moving shadow, hardware, etc all went techy it wasnt like this is this and that is that... it was defined by hard or organic soft or heavy whatever. But all encompassing the same.
I was playing almost purely techstep/hardstep shit in 98 and still labeled jungle... at the time no one thought it different subgenres
