I don't know anyone that doesn't put a roach on their spliff (assume that's what you mean by 'paper filter' - i.e. not a filter), I'm talking about these:

sorry, language/slang problem there. Roach is called filter tip here in the stores. I've seen a lot of people do it, just like rolling cigarettes without it. I personally haven't used that...but I don't see why not? Roach is fine for me though.

I know a few guys that I work with, we're all smoking the same e-cig that one of us bought back from France. No-ones had a problem, it's even stopped 2 of em' smoking all together. Costs 80 quid.

Not claiming it doesn't have any long term effects, to be fair, but I've seen it work first hand.

Buy a pack of clementines. They're your new cigarettes.

rolling = peeling them
smoking = eating them, piece by piece.

DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO SHOVE THE WHOLE THING IN YOUR MOUTH.

It should take roughly the same amount of time as smoking the cigarette does
if you do it right and eventually you will be able to wean yourself off the
oranges once your brain has clicked. Should take 3-4 weeks.

^ Laugh all you want man, it works.

The majority of people have issues with what to do with the spare
3 mins they have when they would normally smoke if they're trying
to quit. This method subs the act of rolling and smoking with
the act of peeling an orange and eating it.

After, what, 72 hours (?) the nicotine is out of the body, so the dependency
is clearly cognitive at that point, and you can sub one cognitive function
for another.

Sorry man I wasn't being rude I think it's a great idea and support anything that works for people

the do not shove this in your mouth whole thing made me laugh.

If I had been able to make that part bold rather than italics it may have been more obvious what I was laughing at

ahhhhh, I see!

Yeah, the premise is the idea of subbing one act with another
that is less - damaging...

if you're shoving a whole orange in your mouth, you're defeating
the point of subbing the activity... plus it makes a mess.

I suppose it will depend from person to person. Like your situation, we had a bunch of 5 friends (not me) buy it from a shop in Holland, with different kinds of flavours, nicotine levels, the entire works.
That was around what, 6 months ago? Now only one of them is still using it. One guy, as I said, became addicted to it and started getting allergies, another guy started complaining about headaches. And two others just gave up on it (you need to keep ordering capsules if you e-smoking just replaces regular smoking which was the case here).

On the other hand, my moms friend has cut down on his smoking because of it. It differs from person to person, but debate here in Belgium is whether to ban esmoking as well, which raises my eyebrows on whether or not it really is healthy for u.

I think the e-smoking thing is healthier rather than healthy because of the substances it doesn't contain.

My partner and me both used the intellicig and both have virtually quit. We've gone from about 1 capsule a day to < 1 change per week. It's more just the having it there so it's still a crutch just one that's significantly less expensive and less damaging. It will differ from person to person and I'd definitely caution against a 1 size fits all approach*

*with the exception of stuffing whole clementines in the mouth

Haha... yeah, I agree it's different strokes for different folks.
But the first step is wanting to quit, definitely.

I used the method I suggested and I looked for reasons as to why it
may have worked for me. I was a 10 a day man for 2 years solidly
and now I can't even stand the smell of them. I have to stop myself
heaving if I get stuck behind someone smoking them in the street.

Gotcha! 'Filter' implied there's some filtering going on... I got confused! Bloody language.

Well, I've just skinned one up using a Swan filter tip... I'll report back a bit later as to whether I'm caned or whether I've just wasted a spliff's worth of Hindu Kush. :x

On the e-cigs thing, just don't get those cheap ones in the bodega type stores behind the counter. There's a lot of cheap knockoff ones, and I doubt they are done right. Not saying to spend loads on them, but do some research on different ones available for sure. There's chemicals in that shit, definitely don't want no shady ones.

Really looking forward to hearig your results. Something i've been meaning to do for a few years, just never really wanted to waste a spliff/opportunity to smoke after hearing how it does.

Well, I'm definitely pretty fucking stoned. Filter seemed to have lots of brown shit in it, but my eyes are red, my face is all warm, my mouth's dry and I have the urge to pick up my acoustic guitar.

And I've been writing this post for... 10 minutes now.

Also, can we discuss filters on spliffs? Do they really stop you getting as high or is that just a stoner myth? I might have to give it the Pepsi challenge...

i stopped smoking weed because it made me self conscious and someone who i didn't want to be. i don't need it, i'm saving loads of money, i'm feeling better.

cigs are different.

i will not lie, i miss the habitual coming home and skinning up. these days i prefer to go to the gym and sit there afterwards with a big grin on my face being happy instead of sitting there thinking of and reliving embarrassing situations that had happened to me.
