WAFFLE WILL NEVER DIE.
No, but seriously, perkle, I have no idea what you're on about. In boston and its surrounding states:
A waffle is a WAFFLE first and foremost. Waffles do not generally come from boxes (unless frozen) An eggo is a TYPE of said frozen waffle that (although popular) has never ever eclipsed the fame of the original.
that being said, they had a tidy and motivating advert campaign
Picture this- You and a group of friends are going to eat breakfast at a mom & pop diner - a stronghold of the american dream - while sitting down a friend orders from the waitress like this
" Good morning, I would like some eggos please "
the response would certainly be
" We have home made waffles here, we don't serve frozen ..."
and so on,
so, while, yes, everyone involved -waitress, friends, diner - knows exactly what an eggo is; no one has let the term WAFFLE be wrenched from their hearts.

2nd. ill admit im wrong. but for real, back in early 90s it was the thing to say. you dont remember that? commercials growing up were ALL about eggos and apple jacks and shit.
and actually that EGGO box proves something here about the LEGOs
it says "EGGO WAFFLES"....obviously its a brand name, so you would say "LEGO BLOCKS" or bricks. i hate that half of us here are wrong.
