and by the way the miniseries "corner" is good, in someway its a prequel to the wire, but its no way near as good as the wire if you watch it after seeing any seasons of wire. in my opinion.

cant name a top 5 of character but some that come to mind are:

mcnulty & bunk
omar
avon & stringer
marlo, snoop(!) & chris
lester freamon & mcdaniels
bubbles and his friend junkie the white dude who died on overdose in the freezone
dangelo, poot and bodie from barksdales crew
herc & carver
Landsman (the fat sergeant who gave speeches at cops funerals in the bar)
ziggy & Frank sobotka
prop joe
dennis wise the boxer (what happened to him in the end?)
kima
and the great clay davis ssshhhIEEEEEETTT !

theres way too many to mention...

I'm bursting to give it all away lol Some great great moments in the last episode... but I'll wait.

I felt seriously (no homo)emotional at the end

I felt kind of dissapoited at the last episode, some things felt really rushed to me, like Marlo giving away his crown without even thinking on it, or Dukie becoming a dope fiend, also some of the character developments felt really forced, like Michael being the new Omar or Sydnor being the new McNulty... in the end I felt the best thing about the finale was the newspaper storyline, in opposite to the rest of the season.

It'll still stay like the best TV show I've ever seen, no doubt.

Oh, and on the best 5 characters I'd definately include that Norman guy who works with Carcetti

Yeah it was a bit of an anti-climax and things do get tied up a little too neatly, I agree. It has been rushed this season as well I think, but I read an interview with the writer of the show who said he was happy to sacrifice extra episodes for the sake of dramatic force, which I suppose is understandable.

Bub's is blatantly the best character, hes holding alot of pain from his past and is the only character whos progressed, he just didnt know what it felt like to feel pride.

This has really been 5 seasons of pure watchability, no doubt most of us will go and watch the whole show again in a couple weeks.

I'm always watching one season or another, I must have seen the first four seasons so many times. And I notice new things all the time still.

My season 4 dvd set should be coming through today :D

As for the last episode I was a bit disppointed to be honest, as I have been with the majority of the season, although it is still better than virtually every other show around.

I'll wait before posting blatant spoilers, but was more predictable than previous seasons, and the pacing was almost too quick to fit everything in.

can anyone explain what was the "dirt" they had on mcdaniels that made him withdraw. i somehow have missed it alltogether.

i remember it been mentioned in the earlier seasons also, that mcdaniels had something in his past wich wasnt "clean", but what was it?

I was thinking that aswell, about it being dead quick, but i thought that if this was to happen in real life it would move really quickly in the last stages anyway.

I don't know if it was ever fully revealed, i think it was alluded to that there was some corruption in one of his units involving money received from criminals but I can't recall for sure.

ive watced the last episode couple of times now... and to be honest i feel little bit disappointed how they ended it.

just like the whole season 5 it feels forced and hurried in someway.
some stuff feels just plain stupid...

allthough they leave few things open, seems like they just had to squeeze somekind of end to it... but this season has been definetly hurried, and for me its probably the worst season of the series.

Daniels !!

The dirt -- supposedly, he took money when he was a cop. Allegedly not enough for an indictment, but bad enough to tarnish a career.

The ending -- just the way it was supposed to end. All the pieces came together. I'll have more later on -- i'm too sick to type right now.

If Joe's seen it I assume a lot of people have by now, so can we start posting spoilers?

I'll just quickly say one of the things that confused/disappointed me about the last episode was how little Michael was in it- one scene? I thought there would be a big storyline about him on the run from Marlow's crew.

Also, if Marlow decides to quit does that mean his entire organisation is dead?

It looked like Slim Charles was taking over which would seem the natural progression.
