Very much feeling what is being said in this interview, especially from Loefah. Think this has stirred up some emotions in this thread though. Interesting that Loefah isn't really into his Disko Rekah tune, as I always loved that one. Will be looking forward to this label's stuff.

Re the Dillinja "meeting", when did this happen? Because Dillinja & Lemon D also hooked up with El-B, way back in 2001 or something and there was some idea mooted to make garage & D&B "meet in the middle" tempo-wise...

El-B and Dillinja were talking about a 150 colabo in 2000/01 (check my sleeve notes on the Roots of El-B for more info). It never happened.

Dillinja d&b meeting happened about 2004/05

The Lemon D dubstep one happened in about 2007 I think.

Dillinja & Lemon D sure do like their tempo meetings. did anything come out of any of the meets? seem's like they bang out dance floor stuff to play on the valve system

Makes sense to me. Drum & bass got too fast. Once you get to a certain tempo you have to either strip the beats down like most modern drum & bass or it gets really intense and hectic like breakcore which I like but is an acquired taste. That's why later drum & bass is so much less rhythmically interesting.

It's a well known fact that early jungle is the best music ever.

most if not all dance music features bass as one of the key driving elements of its composition, go to any club.

dont get your point other than an overstated fear of the wobble. get over it. good music without wobble. but with bass, around 140, with interesting rhythm will likely exist even if not called "dubstep"

long live the death of dubstep in some sense as much as i care. was good but things move on. still rate the artists though, scene just died a bit, seen?

I lasted about a year longer than you before I realised I'd been buying the same tune over and over again for the last two years.

1993 - 1996 ftw!

aken from the minutes of the dnb meeting at the Little Chef Cafe on the A6 near Shrewsbury on 03/07/04.

Goldie (making a conference call on a mobile)- Yeah nice one for turning up everone i should be there in a bit im running late. Go on without me

Grooverider - well im the junglist don, so i'll run things. Right! where shall we begin?

Andy C - Yeah, well i think the music's goin a bit slow at the moment innit? My sets are at around 220/230 bpm and there isnt enuff quality music for me to rinse out the dance.

Grooverider - er i thought this meeting was meant to be about the music being too fast?

Mc Shabba - Yeah we should be dealing with the matter

MC skibba - yeah dealing with it proper

John B - I just want to rinse it out proper he he !

Twisted - say that again and i'll knock u out u tnuc

The office doors swing open and in walks Ray Kieth

Ray Keith - If theres any knocking out to be done here today it'l be by me. Sorry im late everyone, im knackered. Hectic schedule and all that. Whats the story?

Mickey Finn - Well were trying to get the industry back on its feet, it's in a state innit? Look at Urban Takeover and Dread for example.....were not exactly runnin it are we any more?

Everyone looks at each other puzzled

Fabio - yeah, weve got to put more groove into the music, were scaring off the punters

Twisted - Youve got it wrong fabs. We should go back to the good old days. Fill the clubs up with kids, stick as many pills down their gullets as they can handle, then play back to back wobble out tunes. You'l be surprised at what happens. The kids turn to zombies and every friday they keep coming back

Grooverider - yeah, weve already got that system running down at fabric. It works a treat. Fuck me, my schedule is so hectic right now that i cant be bothered to play a wide selection, it takes too much effort, so i just play back to back twisted individual anthems and the kids love it.

Dillinja - Fuck all that. Thats just mindless drugs music. what the scene needs is more bass

Lemon D - Yeah, thats just mindless drugs music. Yeah we need more bass.

J-Majik & Peshay simultaneously - More filtered disco breaks too

Nicky Blackmarket - Im not making as much as what i used to. Kiddies coming into my shop and going straight for the promos. The releases hardly get touched nowadays...apart from Rays stuff that he palms off onto the star struck kiddies.

Nicky and Ray high five each other.

Ray Kieth - yeah , u know it blud!

Meeting interupted by Grooveriders phone. Message reads

Im in the bogs, ive got a line dished out waiting for u so hurry cos im gettin a bit twitchy. Goldie

Grooverider - thats my agent. Ive gotta go cos ive got a gig in Peru to go to. Right! So to conclude the scene needs more groove, more bass, more drugs and more wobble out tunes, faster bpm's and more filtered disco breaks. Wicked!
