Considering it was Americans who created House, Garage, Techno, Disco and all of the music that is sampled by said genres, I'd say we have a certain interest in maintaining a bit of decorum when it comes to people proclaiming they are doing something different.
If you take a track that Disco-D made in 1986 and speed it up to 130 and call it Funky, it's still a Disco-D tune sped up to 130 and called something it's not. Nothing written in an article changes that. But there was actually a debate happening within this thread before I came in here. Ignore that and blame me for stating the obvious though.
And in regard to self promotion, when is the last time I promoted anything at all? If anything the sales of our second release suffered because I DIDN'T spam the living shit out of it.
And I guess if this thread is about FUNKY it should be in the FUNKY forum where it will die a quick death like all the other threads in there. I guess Blackdown should restrict his posts to there, because Dubstep is dead.

When I see a thread about a style of music or an artist I don't like, I don't bother posting. You don't like Funky and it seems like you're not keen on Blackdown either, so why bother posting when your mind is already made up?Surface_Tension wrote: And I guess if this thread is about FUNKY it should be in the FUNKY forum where it will die a quick death like all the other threads in there. Why bother posting about your blog that slates dubstep on a Dubstep forum in the Dubstep subforum of Dubstepforum? Surely people who put themselves out there as being some sort of important person with knowledge of history/current music/future of music is open to criticism.WheelchairPrince wrote:When I see a thread about a style of music or an artist I don't like, I don't bother posting. - Class isn't really an issue in the uk, and isn't really worth using in the context of music. People only really use it when they are trying to wind someone up, maybe it was brought up as it's been said that Blackdown is public school educated, and it was an indirect.TeReKeTe wrote: --I always forget how much of an issue "class" is in Europe and the UK. Almost more like caste. If i'm wrong, great: prove me wrong.

--those of you dissing "Margins Music" clearly have never played "kuri pataka" to a room full of people that want to dance.
sadly, it appears that this thread is now unsalvageable.
- away from the apparent personal stuff against Blackdown, surely discussion and debate should be encouraged.
- I thought it was a rather dull album to be honest, the concept seemed more important than the execution. Some of the 12s were far better realised.

If you're so positive about dubstep, why does your label release middle of the road bland tunes and not something innovative and exciting (like HotflushSurface_Tension wrote:Why bother posting about your blog that slates dubstep on a Dubstep forum in the Dubstep subforum of Dubstepforum? Hotflush have done a class job of pushing things forward in many ways. I own probably all but like 3 of their releases(including the various sub labels.).sarnian wrote:If you're so positive about dubstep, why does your label release middle of the road bland tunes and not something innovative and exciting (like Hotflush)?
That said, there is no assurance that will continue if they shift toward something I'm not feeling. What, you think I'm about to shit on Hotflush or something?
