dungeon formula
140bpm
intro with deep film quote
mad bass line
hats pick up 8/16 bars in
breakdown same as intro
next main section has crazier bassline than first main section
dj stick wrote:Has this become the new brostep? Every (shit)producer that used to make bro or tearout seems to be doing "dungeon" now.
The scene has gotten incredibly stagnant lately, most dungeon is now who can make a crazier bassline. I heard a new Kill The Noise song and some of the basslines and drums could double as dungeon tunes, most of the time the line between some bro tunes and dungeon tunes is filtering. Don't get me wrong there is some very sick dungeon out there, if you count Geode/Gantz their tunes always sound fresh.

A lot of it is boring as fuck, but that's dubstep as a whole. Dubstep's tagline should be "find what you like".

Best Of Low Voltage out 7th December.
"The culmination of over two years of releasing quality deep dubstep on our Low Voltage series, this ‘Best Of’ compilation features 25 of our favorite tracks from that time period. This album also signifies a rebirth for the label, as we focus all of our efforts on this style of 140 b.p.m. bass music moving forward into 2013. If you are a fan of the Low Voltage series, you will be very excited for what we have in store!"

you can reduce any subgenre/genre down to a formula.

not argueing there isnt some samey samey shit going on though. And i agree soemtimes it is just the filtering that makes it different...thank god for filtering lol.

Isn't that kind of the point with music though? Or do you sit around listening to stuff you don't like on a regular basis?

im intrigue...ive not really paid much attention to this style of music, but when did it turn from being centred around hollow Loefah type sinewave stabs, to pretty much cymbals + neurofunk basslines drenched in reverb.

is that it?
i mean he'd have to have a reason to call it dungeon, aside from being kinda dark and atmospheric i can't see why you'd called it that.

Was just a phrase Toast used, he didn't mean for it to become the name of a sub-genre.
