I had an allergic reaction to a pollen joint before I went to bed last night. An hour with ridiculously fast heart rate, swollen throat and a kind of asthma-ish chest. Never had that before with weed... for a while I thought I was about to have a fucking heart attack or something until I noticed my throat was all swollen - did well over my RDA of hayfever spray and a couple of anti-histimines and it all started to fade.

Seriously though, fuck.... that. Feel a bit weird this morning. It's been a ridiculously heavy few weeks and I think I'm in fairly urgent need of a proper night's sleep, but weed's NEVER done that to me before. Little bit scary if I'm honest.

Pollen burns so hot that smoking it can cause all the hairs in your throat and nose that keep away all the nasties to get singed. It's more than likely that you just opened the door to an attack this way. I've noticed if I smoke Pollen I start sneezing a lot more and that my throat can get quite dry.
Though I dunno what was going on with your heart >:z

I've been Tarantinoing this bitch all day... I reckon it went something like this:

- Heart rate goes up due to smoking too much tobacco too quickly - well, you need something to fill the spliff up and pollen doesn't take up much room.

- Pollen then coats (and possibly burns) throat and chest causing allergic swelling and wheezing.

- As breathing gets a bit tight and brain gets stoned/paranoid panic starts to set in and sends the heart into overdrive... the more I thought about it, the higher it seemed to go. Eventually I drifted off to sleep with the telly and was fine by the time I woke up.

In retrospect, I should've just logged onto DSF and flicked through the GIFs thread to take my mind off it rather than sitting on my own in a darkened room staring at a painting of St Francis of Asisi and contemplating my own mortality.

I notice my heart rate goes a lot faster if I blaze one up using a baccy like Amber Leaf or Golden Virginia, but if I use a mild baccy like Drum Mild then I never have these problems. Only problem is Drum Mild seems to go up in price everytime I go back to the shop

I prefer a bit of baccy in a spliff, i reckon it burns better, every american I've ever met strongly disagrees tho haha. And initially we were talking about pollen. Wouldn't work if you tried to smoke it straight.

i doubt any american would disagree that spliffs burn better with tobacco, since if there is no tobacco, its not a spliff (they do burn nicely tho) :p


tobacco should only be used when theres nice, dark hash imo, otherwise get that outta here. pollen and herb is fine
