I smoked for about 6/7 years in a row.. from a very very young age. I use to smoke about 3/4 a day, and easily get thru a 10 pack on a Saturday. But then i stopped all in one day. I call it will power. I don't believe this word 'addiction'

Re: Giving up smoking.
i have a weird addiction to cigs myself...i can smoke a pack a day for a few days, then just simply not feel like smoking for a week or so, then go back to smoking 3-4 cigarettes a day...it's creepy, and i don't get any bad consequences from stopping for a while
not aware if this has been mentioned before, but advice for if you want to stop smoking is act like you're not a smoker. it sounds extremely weird but just act like you don't smoke, and in a way engineer your brain to think so...for example, if someone asks if you want a cig, or if you ever get the urge to smoke, just try and get your first thought to be, "wow, why would i want a cigarette, i don't smoke" don't necessarily say that out loud, but get that reaction in your head to trigger whenever a situation arises.

Re: Giving up smoking.
Thought it would be good to pop in here.
Got one of the biggest opportunities of my life on the close horizon in going to LA for a year on work placement. Thing is i've been told and had a research about a medical when i get over there. So that means weed needs to go out the window (quite soon).
I dont smoke cigs. Never had and never had the urge to. (i see no benefit) Now its approx 45 - 90 days for daily smokers for it to get out of the system. I think for me it will be less because my metabolism is silly-ily high and i've also gone out and bought some detox kits and that for when i choose a date to stop (im thinking after the next leeds dmz/exodus which is the end of this month)
Is it true if you stop for 2 weeks your dont mentally crave it anymore. Im not sure if i heard that right off someone or something..
Any tips?!

Unless you are a lawyer, high ranking civil servant, a judge, a driver/chauffeur, a policeman, in the army, and perhaps a few other odd jobs (doctor?), a medical doesn't test you for drugs.
At least not in Belgium, except for the ones mentioned above.
A good friend of mine works in a chemical Lab, pretty high end function and he's on heavy duty drugs every weekend. Never failed a medical. My brother is a civil cervant, he smokes weed a lot, never failed a medical. Personally haven't been forced to take one yet.
There are certain companies that enforce a more thorough urine investigation. I remember when I applied for a high end job at Toyota, it had in the contract that they were allowed to analyse your urine every month, but I don't think they're even allowed to test you for drugs.
Only police/anti-doping agency and a few others are.

I dunno man this is the USA we are talking about. They are nearly as bad as the Australians when it comes to people moving to there country for a length of time. Apparently its not to test for drugs but to test for disease (they take a blood sample) but I guess if they see high levels of THC in your blood they would be like fuck this guy.. Hes coming over here and a lot of the money he will earn will go into the 'black market'. In other words, not benefiting their economy..joeki wrote:Unless you are a lawyer, high ranking civil servant, a judge, a driver/chauffeur, a policeman, in the army, and perhaps a few other odd jobs (doctor?), a medical doesn't test you for drugs.

Not from there but have been looking into moving. I did some research, you can't. Pretty sure you have to be a Californian resident which means living there for three years and applying for the right visas.Moultz wrote:joeki wrote: can foreign people get Medical Marijuana cards. Re: Giving up smoking.
I've smoked a lot today, I think like 15...but I haven't been counting. Got a sore throat and a heavy chest, not the one.
Work is really killing me with the smoking, if I finish my work (which is a lot of the time) I just go for a smoke and then someone will ask me to gan out, so I will. It's a total social thing and it's bugging me. Too think a year or so ago, I was barely have 15 a week and now...ah man.
And 6 months before that I didn't even smoke.
How much damage you reckon a year and a half of smoking will do? Much or not? Just curious!
Me and my lass have set a date to quit like. 1st November. Winter so it's cold out and we can chill to fuck in a beer garden. I think work is really gunna fuck me though.

Re: Giving up smoking.
I'm back at my parents for a week or so to concentrate on work. I thought I might as well also not smoke while I'm here, though I have no long term quitting plans I thought I'd give it a shot.
I'm about to go the pub where I know all my old friends will offer me cigs. If I'm not planning to quit forever should I smoke tonight? I really want a cigarette...

Re: Giving up smoking.
Here's a quick question for anyone who may know? I've not smoked in 3 weeks. I have high metabolism to just put that out there. I leave for the US on h 3rd of July with a drugs test / immigration medical around anytime then I'm guessing. (there will be one?)
Anyway quitting has been rather easy considering my previous everyday use. My question is of I have a few joints today (im off out) and then not smoke till I leave. Do you think I will still pass or not worth bothering. I'm not too fussed but plan on getting mashed for once and want a weed for after??
Cheers

I think we are talking blood and piss. I've done some research and that's what they look at. Obviously the more you do it the longer in your system. Dunno if it worth it.
