Re: The Wire
Onto the 4th season now, so intense. Don't think Ive ever been this emotionally invested with tv characters before.

nothing like the feeling when you're at the end of season 5.VicarOfDub wrote:up to the finale of season 5 - going to have a sesh then smash this movie length episode!
Re: The Wire
yep! loved every minute of this show - finale was too sick. going to try and get into boardwalk empire now (tried the first episode a while back but didn't grab me at the time)symmetricalsounds wrote:nothing like the feeling when you're at the end of season 5.VicarOfDub wrote:up to the finale of season 5 - going to have a sesh then smash this movie length episode!
Re: The Wire
My girlfriend's a university lecturer, and one of her bits of teaching for this term is to supervise a third-year dissertation on a marxist reading of The Wire. Which means that she gets to watch the whole thing and count it as "work".
Re: The Wire
I tend to think of Season 2 as the season that needs to be watched more than once. They are all good and they all benefit from multiple watchings but season 2 left me slightly underwhelmed before I watched it the second time.

Re: The Wire
the greek is THE most powerful character in the whole thing, gotta love series 2 for introducing him into things.
Re: The Wire
Started watching Season 1 again yesterday, still just as awesome

You are probably right actually. It was my least favourite out of all 5, not sayin I didn't enjoy it mind!
This is by far the best thing I have ever seen on TV... I think I've left it long enough to start from the beginning again.
Re: The Wire
I used to think this then noam schooled me. Season 5 is a bit of a joke really and lets the show down in a big way when compared to The Sopranos which remains consistently good (well, fucking SICK) throughout.Trifficspurs wrote:The Wire > The Sopranos imo...

Re: The Wire
I'm on my first run through of the Sopranos (about half way through season 3 at the moment). To be honest I can't see me loving it more than The Wire so far, but I've still got a long way to go, and yeah, season 5 of The Wire was disappointing, compared to the rest of it anyway.cityzen wrote:I used to think this then noam schooled me. Re: The Wire
love the wire but sopranos are superior. 3rd episode of sopranos, when he murders the hitman while taking meadow to see colleges, onward is classic television the likes of which we may never see again

Re: The Wire
Only just got round to watching The Wire a month or so ago. Nice to find something that lives up to the hype. It is just as good as everyone says it is.

Re: The Wire
only just saw that Felicia Snoop Pearson caught charges in real life for intention to distribute heroin , through a wire tap operation...crazy. probably a big contributing factor to why the wire was so good/ believable, they really did their research and even had people involved in the game for real acting in the series...
Re: The Wire
Please dear fucking god let that be a wind up, that has to be a wind up. I got as far as the McNulty song before I had to turn it off.
