Hey dubbstaz.
My names Luke and I live in Wilmington NC. I like mostly anything you'd find on UKF Dubstep. Kinda underground soul but I still respect the greats, Benny, Sonny. Anyways, glad I found this place (:

Please tell me you don't mean Benny Benassi and Skrillex when you say 'the greats'

Ohhai, didn't see you there!
My name is Asbjørn, and I'm an inspiring indie musician!
I have interests within progressive metal mainly, but I also enjoy some good electronic music too. Also jazz to some extent.
Musically, I'm interested in experimenting with the concept of "metalstep", like incorporating chiptune, house, dubstep and breakbeat into death, thrash, deathcore, experimental and other extreme metal genres.
I have literally NO knowledge about how to make dubstep, but that'll come, right?
Inspirationlist:
Metal:
And to the bright reader: I know there isn't tons of actual progressive artists on my lists, but I reason that because I wouldn't say my actual playing can match typical prog metal-style, but is more influenced by "simpler" artistic qualities.
Cheers!

Hello people!
Novice producer from the UK here. Been fiddling around with creating electronic music for about 10 months or so. Migrated from guitar/drums and spend most of my music making time these days hunched over my laptop, "doodling."
My set up:
Tech:
Laptop: Macbook Pro 15"
DAW: Ableton Live 8
Plug ins: NI Massive, (+ a few others, but got no knowledge on them. Rarely use them.)
and a ridiculous number of drum samples/hits.
Hardware:
Akai MPK Mini
Musical influences:
Dubstep:
Addergebroed
Zomboy
Skream
Rusko
Excision
Blackmill
Kotez
Synkro
Bare Noize
Noisia
Other:
Aphex Twin
Daft Punk
Squarepusher
Breakbot
Deadmau5
DJ Shadow
DJ Krush
Gorillaz
RJD2
Sub Focus
High Contrast
So, yeah. Hi. Looking forward to seeing what this site has to offer and sharing my sounds.
Peace!

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Hello everyone. I'm excited to be a part of this wonderful community. I've been a musician for a quite awhile playing guitar in bands and producing/recording metal and hardcore. I have fallen in love with dubstep and electronic music in general and am trying my hand at producing and am really enjoying it. I'm trying to take my knowledge of music theory and broad taste in music (jazz, metal, pop, hip hop, classical, blues, prog) to bring something new into dubstep/DnB/moombahton etc.
I will be releasing a free/pay what you want EP in the coming weeks so be on the lookout. THANKS and good luck to everyone.

Hi Everyone.
My name is Arseniy and i am a novice producer from Russia. English is obviously not my first language so it kinda sucks
A little about myself. I've been a guitar player/singer for a long time and i'm currently singing in a band that kinda sucks. So when my strings failed me to weeks ago i found the "huge guide to dubstep production" thread and have been trying to produce something half decent since then.

Hiya,
Ben Charles, 24, London.
Not overly into dubstep anymore, I really enjoyed it a few years ago but I felt I got lost in a sea of (to be frank) shit.
Still, if I'm at a party/gig/rave whatever and there is some decent dubstep on - I'll have a head bop.
There is still some great 140bpm music being made, which is why I am here.
I produce (obviously!) - http://www.soundcloud.com/chromasy
Cheers.

Whats up world, I'm from Canada -- originally BC, but moved to Montreal last fall.
I love most music - folk of all types; Norwegian metal; some hip-hop, classical; went through a hardcore punk phase in my tweens haha; absolutely love reggae, dub, dancehall -- anything from Jamaica; also some electro; psytrance sometimes; this moombahton thing is pretty sick; and of course dubstep.
I've been listening to "dubstep" since 2009, and really avidly since last year, when I started going to live events.
BUT all the stuff I was exposed to (on big sound systems) was more mainstream, North American, midrange-heavy stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love that stuff (well- to a point), but my love for dubstep was always based on bass, not treble weapons ironically called "bass cannons." Then I saw Mala 2 days ago at igloofest (an outdoor rave in the snow), and it changed the way I look at the music. And the thing is, I was already totally familiar with DMZ and other pioneer producers, but had never heard their stuff through a big system. IT BLEW MY MIND -- a DIFFERENT part of my mind entirely than the one that gets blown by Excision, Datsik, & co.
So now, my goal is to get together with some like-minded dub heads and organize a recurring dubstep event, with emphasis on the deep stuff. There is already a FREE weekly bass music night in Montreal hosted by the amazing DJ Vilify, which is fuckin awesome, but of course it's pretty much all brostep, dnb, and hip-hop. Drop me a line if you're in Montreal and interested in realizing this dream.

My name is Andreas Aldal and I come from Denmark.
I've listened to Dubstep since 2009 and started making my own dubstep 2010.
Example of my Dubstep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMxkpOo29CM
I'm very interested in the filthy part of Dubstep and the old school Dubstep
I try to ignore mainstream dubstep, such as Skrillex.

alright, im jo (no e - im female). i got into dubstep last year but ive just started going to more nights and stuff so i joined up. i mainly listen to older tracks from loefah, skream, hatcha, rusko, digital mystikz etc but im really liking some of the stuff coming out from j:kenzo, cyrus, compa these days, theres a bunch of others i could mention but cant really be bothered... i also aint gonna deny that i like magnetic man and katy b but that's another story
im mostly alone in my dubstep fixation so i'll probably be chillin round here a lot... hoping to find the kind of reggae/dub influenced stuff i like most
