They are just auralex mopads. I don't particularly trust those monitor stands due to them not being overly stable and they do vibrate, the pads help with this a lot and also decouple the speakers with where they're placed. Like I mentioned in the post I plan on getting a desk so got them for then too just to decouple. It all depends on sorroundings/treatment but atm yeah they are good for me. Some people swear by them, others don't.

Nice setup! What kind of speakers are those and whats the stands they're on? Would you recommend them to a beginner? They look nice.
Nice one cheers!

The monitors are Yamaha hs80m's. They are just on some stands that came free with them, millenium bs500 or something like that, cheaper end of the stands scale but I'm only using them till I build my own desk in new flat.

Obviously from a personal perspective I really rate these monitors, my mixes have been translating very well from them which is the most important thing for me. Their stereo imaging is brilliant even in my untreated room and for the price that they are I think it's very good value for money. However despite my own personal liking for these yammies, it's you who will be mixing with whatever monitors your getting so even if everyone on the net raves on about a certain monitor, it doesn't mean it's going to work for you and you just need to be using whatever monitor suits you. So listen to some yourself if you can and once you understand a bit about the translation of mixes (you might already but for the purpose of this explanation) you'll be able to choose some monitors that work for you, or just get whatever and learn them, but yeah, yamahas are great imo, I sold my krk rokit 8g2's to get them and I couldn't believe the difference in quality. Hope that helps!

Immerse wrote:they are hs80m's i think. very nice monitors, you wont be paying a clearance price though! make sure producing is really what you want to do before you splurge on those badboys, worth it though

Although around £400 or whatever they are, I really think they could easily have stuck a price tag double if not more on these. I've listened to my mixes through a pair of genelecs that cost around £1300 for the pair at someones house I was buying some stuff of, and my mixes translated very well, not only that but there really wasn't much difference in sound to my ear, and I expected them to blow mine out the water, this room was also well treated. Obviously the bass response was noticably difference, yet my mix didn't suffer due to a lack of this in my room, so I am really impressed these yammies and would give high reccomendations, but like immerse said make sure your commited you don't want to be stuck with £400 monitors your not using.

Excuse the numerous posts, i woulda grouped them but saw each comment sepearately

Thanks, I also have a half stack (4x12" cab) for my guitars (I have 3) off camera and some rack effects. A BBE MAximizer, BOSS GL-100 Guitar driver/distortion rack and a Alesis 3630 Compressor/LImiter/Noise Gate.

This is actually my second set of Technics. I foolishly sold a mint condition set of MD3's w/ the dust covers and 45 adapters still intact for $300! lol I was desperate for rent one month. I still get the chills when I think about how bad of a deal that was for me. This pair I got from a friend in exchange for $400 worth of stone tile work. I had to make some repairs. I replaced the RCAs on both of them myself and burned the crap out of my finger with a soldering iron. I saved a couple hundred bucks doing it though! I dont use them much anymore except for sampling or rocking Serato when the homies come over. You can find them on Craigslist for around $300-400 each.

I've never understood why metal bands make their logos completely unreadable.

I know what you mean but this logo is tame compared to most. It is actually legible

That's what I'm talking about. This one is decipherable, but I've seen some that are completely illegible. Wouldn't you want people to know what your band is called?

I agree with you. It started over 20 years ago with bands like Sabbath and has evolved with new bands trying to out-do that older ones. It becomes more of a symbol or "mark" than a traditional logo. :?
