to be honest I think swamp have actually gone less 4x4 in recent months. A lot of the 4x4 tunes they rinse tend to be sort of half-time, think admiral by paleman.
actually if you think about it the last swamp release had only 1 4x4 track on it, and the next one has none

first of all 4x4 is a horrible name because it includes basically all dubstep songs. 4 on the floor is better but still not a decent name imo cause there are some 4 on the floor dubstep tunes like "I and I" by Jack Sparrow.

regardless, imo house/techno/whatever is by definition boring/uncreative because they are bound to the same drum beat over and over again. the music is creatively hindered because it's made so that it can be easily mixed by DJ's.

swamp btw is the most creative of any "4/4" (THAT I HAVE LISTENED TO) and some of their tunes have found ways to break this problem but most house musicians don't even give it a second thought. they take it as a given that their music is created primarily to be mixed by DJ's and they want the DJ's lives to be easier so they make less creative tunes as a result.

oh jeez

how can you rate one label with like 25 releases as the pinnacle of all 4x4 music... yeah sure they've had some very decent and interesting releases, and tunes by those guys absolutely smash it in the right environment, but if you ever listened to the hessle audio show, for example, you would quickly realise how wrong you are about swamp being the most creative of any 4x4  . like ben ufo is constantly playing the most creative and weird out of the box 4x4. ive got all the time in the world for the weird stuff he plays (well, for as long as i can tolerate 4x4...). but i do not have all the time in the world for hyperpolished overhyped 5 panel tech house that everyone has been playing for the past few years.

i'm glad swamp have loosened off on the 4x4 though, it will hopefully inspire people to start making more interesting shit, instead of just DUFF DUFF DUFF everythingiproducemustbea"banger". i hadn't listened to the show in like 6 months or something but the last one was sounding pretty interesting again

btw man 4x4 =/= 4/4
