If it was linear. UKG - Dark Garage < Grime/Dubstep.. why isn't it possible to go back to Dark Garage and create a 3rd branch? Well thats how I see '130'.

Plus 'progressive regression' might not be all bad, some of my favourite grime stuff atm is the stuff I consider a 'tribute' to classic grime and eski stuff. Kahn & Neek ect... even Zombys Eski shit. I see nothing wrong with going back to the roots and trying to go into a different direction. Some of the best '130' stuff has some jungle influences that I'm feeling.
Nah , it's going forward , except 2step will be called Light Garage and UKG will be called UK 130 , it's all logic

nakedlunch wrote:What's this thread about?
shameless self-promotion, very banal discussion, throwaway bootlegs/version of classic grime beats
people who actually think this stuff is new (there's nothing wrong with that tbf), ppl who know this stuff isn't new,
ppl feeling 'antagonized' about the ppl knowing this stuff isn't new (2k13 dsf = agree or be the 'uptight' 'antagonist')
and about two ppl trying to pass these beats off as the new stage of the 'nuum. trying being the key word.

I'm not trying to coax you into anything :)

I just found this thread , read it and by the way people were talking I thought there was a whole new sound , then listened to all the tunes and only heard familiar music.

The continuum is turning into a progressive regression i.e ; UKG - 2step -Dark Garage - Dubstep - 130(Dark Garage) - 2step* -UKG*

*next logical progression/regression
just a wave of new producers who people are feeling and who happen to mostly write tunes around 130BPM... that's not to say all their tunes are strictly 130BPM, or they're a new genre that has to be named that way, or that they are fomenting a revolution, it's just a simple way for people to know what kind of artists we are talking about, nothing more.
and i don't really view it as a regression. i think what a lot of these artists are doing is kind of reincarnating the atmospheres of minimalist old school dubstep within a uk funky framework. giving a new twist on previously existing patterns. it might not be entirely new, but it's going in a lot of interesting directions at the moment.

@topman: a more accurate description of this thread would be people posting and enjoying tunes and a few grumpy posters mad at the fact that some people enjoy some tunes they don't
oh and yourself trying to par everyone but only parring yourself in the end

whatever

back to tunes

you can't just quote a random post, add a bunch of "tbh" "tbf" "lululu" and "lulz" and expect people to think you "perfectly" made a point. :t:

you know lurka i've got nothing against you, but i think you take your "freeing the realness" mission way too seriously. does it really bother you so much that there is one line on your apparent "promised land" general discussion forum linking to a thread where people enjoy tunes you dislike? it's not like you're going to change anyone's opinion either way

^but if you read all your posts about me on just this page, you'll see they have absolutely nothing to do with what i said. at least my post held some weight. i like the part where you couldn't address a single thing i mentioned so you chat about 'tbh' and 'lolz'. 5* input there mate. brilliant stuff.
TopManLurka wrote:(i'm parring myself for holding an opinion on a forum, bumbaclart madness)
rahtid.

somebody ban this guy uno, he's moving like a dickhead for having an opinion, parred himself n everything. apparently as well now, you can't say 'tbh' and co-sign people either :o even though nakedlunch is saying exactly what i said last year.

because everyone's addressed everything you've been mentioning for a year multiple times. and it's pretty pointless to repeat the same thing hundreds of times - even though that's all you've been doing in here.

which proves that you haven't made any point last year, as people kept on posting the stuff just as they did before your remarkable intervention. quoting a guy who displays the same opinion as you does not show that you "summed this thread perfectly".

i'm done anyway - i personally don't have that much time to spend arguing with a troll. /foe

lolz if you check the quotations and the assumptions in just this post alone, you can tell i make guys seethe @ their keyboard. inshallah you guys find life beyond dubstep forum man. i'm here to talk about the sound, you man are here to talk about soundcloud pals.

get rid of the house sub-forum imo. seems almost silly for the same three people to keep posting dusk/blackdown rips.

this internet sound shouldn't be a triangle.

Fucking LOL  . The only posts that hold any weight here are the ones sharing tunes, older or new that will help people hear stuff they might not know about.

As for the progression thing, swear down people think they've got a record collection where every piece sounds radically different. It's not bad to want a few tunes that have a similar vibe. As long as it doesn't become identi-kit tunes then I've no problem.
Muncey wrote:Some of the best '130' stuff has some jungle influences that I'm feeling.
Agree with this man. :4: Hoping to hear Sully's jungle/jungle-y stuff sooner rather than later!

To sum up though, all the "this isn't new", "this is a rip off", "this is a stupid name" has already been said plenty of times. It's not gaining anything now. If you're not interested in the sound, just leave the thread to those that are.

from the tracklist the tune at the beginning seems to be myth's semagi - anyone knows if that guy's got a soundcloud or something? can't seem to find anything from him, loving the tune

ahh my post actually summed it up 5*. same 2/3 people as well lool. it's a forum, get over internet text bro's :W:

like said, it's cool if you think this stuff is new, don't give it the big'un to those who have heard it all before doe.
personally, making throwaway bootlegs/versions of grime beats and passing it off as something new is not for me.
alot of the beatmakers in this thread need to do something fwd>> imo.

seeing as we're contributing

That's just a handful though man. People like Beneath, Epoch, Double Helix, Mumdance and Dusk & Blackdown themselves aren't doing that. Hopefully the rise of this grime-y stuff again will make people dig into the back catalogue a little deeper too.
