So I want to rename some of my FX plugins to tidy things up (e.g jasd94jf9 -> Whoevermadeit Chorus) so I'm wondering if I change the names of the dll files and then use refresh in 'more effects' menu will it update all the names for everything?

Also how come the scan and verify option is listed as unsafe, what's so unsafe about it?

I am having an issue with a bounced bassline making a single "pop" at the very beginning of it. I used massive to create a bassline, which was then split into 3 different bands for processing seperately, and then recombined and sent to the master insert. In the original file the bassline sounds good, there is NO pop at the beginning of it when played. However, the db meter spikes to 0db but immidiately settles back to -6db for the remainder of the notes but there is no pop (this is in the original file and what I think is at fault). If i bounce the bassline or even a single note and load into a new project file, why does it pop at the very beginning? Is it because of the db spike in the original file? If so how do I fix it? I have been trying to learn compression but it seems it is not working in this case. Thanks in advance. :?

If its popping but you cant here it on the original file, it could be a number of things. Does it pop when you have exported as a wav/mp3?

Thoughts: Could be a big sub surge. On your synth sounds is there any automation on the filter or anything like that? If so try stopping this and see if it makes a difference. If it does i would chop a few lows from it (carefully dont kill it) and then put the automation back on and see if it has stopped.

If it is only on the exported version, have you let the sound completely die down on the sound meter before exporting? FL kind of "rips" the sounds into an mp3 so if there is still echo, reverb etc from when you just played it through it will rip this as well. see if thats the problem.

It might be clashing with your kick if the hits are both at the start of the bar. Then its all about Eq and compression. I always route my kick and sub bass through the same compressor. Compress all of the lows together. Wit quite a high ratio it keeps the dynamics between the 2 sounds consistant regardless of note etc. This has always helped me to tighten up the bassline and kick together.

example of comp settings, Ratio 8:2:1, keep the attack and release farely low (you will have to adjust by ear) Hard compression shape, then play the samples together and drop the threshold untill the samples come sweetly together. If you go too far with the threshold you will destroy you kick. use your ears and find the sweet spot.

Hope this solves it. If not might have to hear it or summat lol

Automating non FL plugins is easy. Adjust the feature you want to automate on the plugin, then top left of the plugin window, click the FL drop down menu, last tweaked parameter. create automation clip. Jobs a gooden!

It only makes the pop noise when I have it exported as a wav file. I don't think there was any reverb or anything lingering when I exported it either, but I will have to check again later when I get home from work. I also didnt have anything automated when I exported the bassline, I was doing it to simply hear the quality and to test out different processing on it. It is not clashing with a kick either because the file only contains the bassline. I keep leaning towards the db spike at the very beginning of the bassline in the original file as the culprit for the pop in the EXPORTED file. Maybe the attack is too high on one of the frequency bands or something of the like and is causing this spike at the beginning? Or maybe I need to compress each frequency band seperately until there is no more spike?

Bingo. Turn the attack on the synth up a miniscule amount.

Either wind the attack up a bit like said before or, if you still want a sharp start, open a graphic EQ on the sample and see what freq is booming to 0db and you might be able to chop it down a bit.

you could limit it as well, but extending the attack a bit is definately the way to go

if theres another file in the folder similar to the .dll, but with a different format extension (something like .xlr or .xrs) try copying and pasting it in alongside the .dll into fl's vst folder.

Span is fucking awesome. Always make sure I've got templates setup with an instance on the Master, as well as one on each bus.

i just use FL own graphic EQ on the master to keep an eye on things. Other than that i do ALL of my EQin by ear using the parametric Eq

This may be a really dumbass question, but I searched and searched.
Can anyone tell me how to get the patterns in the pattern sequencer from overlapping each other on the grid ? All of a sudden they just started overlapping each other now and I have to line them up perfectly -.-; Not sure what I did exactly
LOL I am just starting to use FL for dubstep and this is the only vid that showed me how to open Sytrus! Thanks, at least you helped me out. :)
