newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Spose I should introduce myself.
First experience of dubstep was probably Caspa & Rusko's Fabriclive37, my mate got hold of it. I never massively got into it, but I started digging around more and finding the stuff I do like. I've lurked around for a long while though, but only joined recently.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Hi, I just got started on this forum (obviously). Anyways my username is "classicaldubstep," and as this name implies, I take classical pieces from composers like Beethoven or Mozart and morph them into some dubstep. I am not a noob; I know my way around the software and such, but some of dubstep enthusiasts might say that my music is more on the side of techno than dubstep. Please give me your feedback on this video, both on how I could make the video be considered better dubstep, and as general my whole idea about classical dubstep. I am very interested in classical music; I play 7 instruments all very well, especially violin. I write and play my own songs using loop pedals and such. I've realized just how good classical music is and just how good dubstep is, but I find they are best put together. If you are interested in some classical dubstep, or are looking for some very good free Vst downloads for any dubstep, please visit my blog at http://classicaldubstep.blogspot.com. Anyways, here is my video, I would really appreciate your honest feedback no matter how explicit it may be...
So I like Avicii, and I wanted to make something similar to his genre. Turned out really well...

Use notch filters to run through that section of sound. really low mids.rayman612 wrote:Sue wrote:hey guys-
glad to be here
I'll start with a question
yes we can all make a strait sub from a sine wave, but what about thickening up some dynamic midrange bass with an "underpinned" sine wave, so that you get the boom that moves with your midrange stuff.
I've tried side chaining my sine-sub to my midrange bass via a gate or a compressor with not great results, too much clicking, etc. Maybe i should just try and run another oscillator off my synth, playing a dropped sine?
(see link for example off the "dynamic midrange basses" i like to work with)
Soundcloud
should get something like this.

To much sub eq on the kick drum. Well put together and it sounds nice, but it was cracklin with each kick drum....and I have a fair sound system.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Greetings dubstep forum! I've been here a few years, but have never formaly introduced myself. My names Dom! I have been making music for quite a while and DJing for a couple of years. Only in the past year have I started attending a music tech corse at chicester college. I am 20 years old and lived in england my whole life. I gotta say that this music corse is the best thing that's happened to me in terms of making music and I'd recomend it to any of you that feel lost career wise. I mostly only work on dubstep stuff but ocasionaly try and work with house and drum and bass. I have a macbook which I run logic on and use a midi keyboard with it. My headphones are low budget and almost at breaking point, but I'm hopefuly getting some new ones soon because I'm getting a better job soon. I have recently bought a few albums: odb return to the chambers, bassnectar music for the ultra and dj shadows entroducing album. When I'm not making music I like to skate to keep fit and catch up on college corsework like mixing songs I've recorded for rock bands. Also its been 4 months since I smoked weed and 3 months since I had a cigarette. Nothing to interesting going on in my life, but my love of music is always growing and I love to network with other musicians. If anyone wants to contact me I'm most active here or on my soundcloud and I made a twitter recently too. I'm pretty responsive too and believe in what I call back and fourth promotion. That's enough for an intro I think and I lookforward to hearing from some of you. Peace

Newcomer here!
I've been producing since December of 2011 and I am still pretty new to things. I joined this board in hopes of learning a thing or two (or a few hundred things)
Nice to meet everyone here!

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
What's good everyone Joe from RunJoerun here, I'm glad to be apart of the forum of great artist/producers/remixers/djs. A lot of in-tro-spective interesting feels on here. Love it! I'm one up for the independent artist, I love the grind. I like to hear the most strangest mind blowing s**t that's never been done before. Also want to work hard and be apart on new trends. I believe there is a place 4 all types of feels and statements by artist. How u relate depends on what u surround yourself with. Hope to meet and create a lot of connects! Peace
