AHHHAAHA! my bad guys with the confusion ill have to remove that from my sig. Enter the Strange and Dry Sky are my complete songs but i take the advice in and make the changes. my current WIP is Watch it Go :)
Grime Syndicate wrote:@Kidstrange: Damn bruv... this one is killing it. From 0:55 to 1:15 is ridiculous. Really really spot on compositionally. And sound-design-wise as well. Keep this shit up. My only real crit is in the mixdown. Sounds a touch muddy and if it were my track, I'd make that kick hit a bit harder, and probably the snare too. Just seems like you need to carve out the unnecessary freq's from some of your track elements. But, really, keep doing what you're doing man. You just scored yourself a new soundcloud follower.

@kidstrange: and now, upon listening to the watch it go remake, the mixdown is much more proper than enter the strange, but I'm not feeling the composition as much. A(nother) switch up or two maybe? To me, it feels a bit drive drive drive, all tension and not enough release. I mean, you've got a couple sections that aren't hard wobblin, but, but, well i dunno. I'm confident you'll sort it out...
Enter the strange- agree with you on cutting down some of the freq and smoothing it out. Nice idea with the kick and snare your the first person to say anything about that but since you said it. i can see an improvement if i did up them a bit. thanks for the comments ! :4:

nefarious wrote: kidstrange, (enter-the-strange): You're not subscribing to the norm here which I like a lot! The mixdown as a whole sounds really good - lots of space and movement and everything seems to be be around the right levels (except the snare which seems a little too low in the mix). The arrangement is pretty nice too...I really like the bridge at 0.55 and the synth lead from 1.02 is sweet!!! I reckon you could get a way with a little more fx-processing on the main lead, other than that, great job!

kidstrange - I did the same as Grime Syndicate! Watch It Go Remake has a good mixdown on it, with everything sitting pretty nicely in it. The intro is really nice, although I reckon the lead in on the lfo-rise from 0.40 needs more work. I've gotta say that I'm not so keen on the lead synths you've got going on in this track, but that could just be a matter of taste. Also to me it sounds like the sub at 1.19 isn't quite sitting right...it might be slightly too detuned or maybe just a little too distorted, but something's not quite right to my ears. I like a lot of the incidentals and atmospheres in the track, but to me as a whole I prefer the vibe/sound of enter-the-strange...but don't give up on it as it has potential!
Well my name is KidStrange it would be only right to shy away from the norm :D

The lead snyths are what im working on the most right now. i realized after i posted it up on here i left a few snyths layered so they sound slightly off im not sure if thats what you noticed which im going to fix. and ill fix the sub and im sure things are not in the proper time slot. it does have alot of work...

Ill let this fill up with more tunes and ill throw my thoughts out

Debaser1: Lovely chords. Feels a bit like deadmau5. Not sure what you've done with the first kick but it's really loud and almost blew my speaker (the very first kick hit at 0:31 that is, rest is fine). Nice hihats and claps although I would bring down the levels of the hats that are panned to the right and comes in on the second and 3,5 beat of the bar. Wow, nice bass when it drops! A bit like Feed me's latest stuff, especially with all the little drops/breaks/switch ups. Very cool. I think the whole mix sounds a little too compressed by the way and almost like it's clipping. Anyway, really good so far. Especially the drop but also the chords in the intro and it will be interesting to hear the full version!
ibscotty: I really really liked the intro (not only due to the Illuminati sample, hehe). I was hoping for a more distinctive drop and beat though. Other than that the mix sounds good and the atmosphere is superb. Nice percussions, really fits the track. After the second drop it definitely needs a new element to make it more interesting. Maybe add another bass synth, raw and massive with a lot of distortion and long attack. Something like the thing at 3:10. Or some kind of melody or change of pace. Not sure but it needs something. Overall I really like the feeling and I haven't heard the other version but hats sounds fine anyway!
ed24: Nice dad sample. :P Heavy wobbles although a little too messy maybe. The bass riff doesn't really stand out and the drums could be mixed better with the bass. Really cool breakdown! Like it a lot. Hm, a pretty radical suggestion but I think the very first wobble (2:11-2:12) should be repeated like a marching bass instead of the bass riff you use now. That would sound really good I think and fit the beat more. It would be like bassbassbassbassbassbass SNARE, bassbassbassbassbassbass SNARE and then modulate it but keep the rhythm. Like I said this tends to get a bit messy. The background synths etc are all good though but you could bring them out more. Cool ending with the 4-beat and the detuned synths. Nice!

@Grok Loving the synth at the start, there needs to be a build up before the drop because right now its just quick silence then bass which doesn't sound as great as it should. Should be in a rise/sweep and maybe add some other percussion with some reverb and delay on it to fill up some space otherwise your onto a good start, wouldn't mind listening to the finished product.

@ed24 Nice sample, while the bassline is at first nice to listen to it can get a bit boring unless you vary it to keep it intersting to the listener. The drums also need a better mixdown, use of compression, EQ etc will help out with that. Remember that the snare needs to smack the listener in the face since it on the third of every beat. Try layering 2-3 snares/claps/white noise to get that nice loud snare sound then add a bit of delay, some reverb and some compression and you will be getting some awesome sounding snares in no time.

Heres my WIP track that needs feedback on it.

@kidstrange - This reminds me of the good ol' classic dubstep style with a new twist. I really like it man!

@T0X1C - For "Showdown Update" I'm sorry but that synth just rapes my ears. Add some reverb and turn the wet up or look up how to make them sound warmer. For "Justmessingaround" good start, has some potential.

@bradicle - I'm liking the overall direction of the song. Might just be my headphones but I would turn up the mids once the breakdown starts. Oh and I like the drop!

My second dubstep track to date. I'm still a beginner at all this producing and software. Advice on how to fill it in more without taking away from the atmosphere would be greatly appreciated :D

@ Grok. The drop isn't too bad. But that intro, not fond at all. It lead's some kind of build, that builds to that drop. Slamming in makes you shit bricks, not in the good way either. Sus a nice laxy intro, that kind of builds up to it I think :). Just my opinion though!

@ zonetrooper5. Nice little intro, I think that synth is a littttle too loud. Just tone down a tiny. Nice sounds in here though man. Nice verb snare. Put some on the smaller hats maybe, give it a little bit more feel. Ok this is just me, but i dont like that bass At all. Kinda killed the whole atmosphere in your tune. Go for something simple man and keep the same atmos and you've got yourself a lovely tune. Just my 2c bud, you have some great elements, so for the love of god, get rid of that fart bass.

@ ed24. Intro is cool, nice spacey synth. Haha quite liking the bass. It's over powering though, draining your drums out.

@ ibscotty. Airy intro!! liking! bit more reverb on those hats! maybe a little on sample. Dark vibes man. Got some good flow going on! X-files stz :D

@ Debaser1. Def deadmau5 feel to it. I think when the drums first start, needs more than just a kick on 4's, thats just me though. Nice hat work, quite enjoying :)

@ alexvont12. Not bad for 2nd track brother. Got some nice elements in there. Nice pad. That bass that comes in and out, is a bit abrupt, maybe sloowwwly work it in. Just the atmosphere you've got in the tune doesn't suit that bass to me. Just keep playing around bro. Definitely going the right way for your 2nd tune.

I've done a bit more work. More work on intro/breakdown, and added a little bit more. Quite a fast melody further down the drop :)

@Grok: Loving your new W.I.P.! Love the use of different sounds from what I would normally here and I like how it sort of glitchy! Can't wait for the final product!

@zonetrooper5: I like this except for the higher pitched bass, for me it seems like it take away from everything else. I definitely liked the chilled sound you had going for it before it came in!

@alexvont12: I like the ambient thing you have going on, I would get rid of the wobbles honestly, just doesn't seem to fit to me.

@bradicle: Lovin your WIP, everything sounds really nice. The only thing I think that needs work is the vocal sample, its a bit too muffled in the beginning and seems to be too loud or something.

Here is a short idea I just threw together (Obviously no where near done as its only 44 secs lol but would still love feedback):

Bit of a UKG type thing, 135 bpm

@ NICORISONE - The piano sounds really good man. :W: Has potential... keep it up!
@ bradicle - Sounds great except for the delay makes it a little muddy.
@ rinseballs21 - Hell yeah! I love the heavy metal feel with a touch of liquidy sounds. :5:

Update! :D Made the bass higher for a alien, trippy feel. Can't tell if I like it... tell me what you think.

@alexvont: cool sounds for sure, i’m not sure how the bass sounded before, but i like how it sounds now. good use of pads and risers. i’d say the biggest problem are the notes you choose for the bassline. they don’t really work with that bass at all. try just half step style stuff and leave the melody for an actual lead instrument. also, some more drums would be nice... and better eq’d. but yes, i do like the bass lol. good work.

@nicorisone: that 45 second one sounds like a very nice intro so far, nice piano riff and good atmospheric elements. i’d say continue that piano part when you drop it! niceee

@bradicle: very nice intro man, i really like the vocals, it’s all the right length, and the drop itself doesn’t disappoint at all, the strings give it all a nice epic background. maybe more sub would be nice though, and your kick doesn’t have quite enough kick. that’s something i struggle with too though, so it’s no put down. really cool lead synth line, if a bit sporadic, it still works really well.

alright, here's mine, this is the first time i've worked with vocals and i'm seriously struggling to get them to mix well and i'm failing at making the sections flow well together. any ideas or suggestions in regards to making the sections work better together would be much appreciated.

err, when you say vocals do you mean those samples you got going on? i thought there was gonna be full on singing. I actually think it sounds cool, i like that they're not easy to understand, although if you wanted them to stand out more you could pick a diff reverb to put on them, one with a shorter tail.

Hey guys im working on this at the moment. I thought it would be nice to have a clean guitar going on in the background to give it that kinda chill/eery sound but then at the same time drop the deep bass on it. Simple but effective?
Let me know what you think. Cheers

oh, er, yes. i was a bit flustered when i wrote that, didn't really think about it haha. good suggestion with the different verbs though, i probably just need to take the time to work on them...

listening to this again though, my kick is pitiful, the snare is shite, and the intro doesn't come close to matching the drop which doesn't come close to matching the dnb part near the end. and that first vocal sample is just ridiculously out of place. i can't believe i made this sober... :6: -w-

much appreciated feedback though, i'm glad something works.

@Johnst
yeah the intro doesn't really suit the drop, but when the drop comes, it's actually a really nice tune. maybe instead of having the samples repeat so often in the song, maybe put it only at the end of every 16 bars or something. there's also a lot of reverb on the vocals. i like the feel of the track though, it could really work on a dance floor once it's done! don't give up on this tune, it has potential

@alexvont12
the pad takes over the track, lower the volume on that a lottt, the rest of the instruments are not getting through very well!

@bradicle

nice work!!! the only thing i would do now is get the kicks and snares louder! seriously nice work, though, really liking how the vocals fit the song! good vibe, too! very well put together!

@grok
woah! yeah man, that's nice! good sounds and everything! i'd pick a clappier snare though, especially for something that so heavy at the drop. other than that, u know, the usual, it needs some structure, a buildup, a rise, some effects here and there, but that's probably the last things u'll add to a tune. so far so good man, keep that shit up!

here's one of mine! i did this on headphones, gonna move on the studio monitors in a couple of days but i'd like some feedback on how it sounds so far.
if anyone wants feedback from me, just send me ur tune :)
