I wouldn't wear it, I don't like it but I don't care what other people wear. I wouldn't hold a guy wearing a dress against him, I just really wanna know what your take on it is.
im assuming you mean from the skingraft image? well if you look closely, its a flap of cloth thats not connecting around the entire torso.. its hanging in the front. i believe thats one of their tunics.
same kinda image being achieved here except the flap is part of the pants.

this stuff is not something i would go buy at all, its ungodly expensive. im a worker. but fashion is still amazing, a lot of the clothing is just art to me.
yes, its precisely art. you're paying for the idea, the concept, not necessarily what you get

Only one off conceptual haute couture can be seen as art, not €500 leather pants. Stop kidding yourselves.

@ naan bread
still communicating something
Definitely, but you can't equate that to art and what an impact that has on humans.
I'm sorry but I don't agree with the notion that it is either highbrow or lowbrow, like in your example with top 40.
Clothes or fashion is aesthetic, but it is representing an aesthetic * but not communicating an aesthetic. *
like a church for example.
That is not to say a piece of clothing can't be a 'work' of art.

I think the 'top 40' example was really appropriate. I was thinking about it and my reaction to a lot of the clothes posted here would be the same way people would react to much of the music I listen to.
Someone might say 'WHAT'S THE POINT OF WEARING SEETHROUGH OR UNCOMFORTABLE CLOTHES' like others would tell me 'WHAT'S THE POINT OF LISTENING TO NOISE?' They're seemingly contradictory to widely accepted 'point' of those forms of expression, but they're not for people who go are interested in something but need more to get the same 'kick' they used to get out of it. I listen to 'extreme" music because I crave the way it puts me out of my previous comfort zone and assaults my senses.
Another thing that strikes me is that this type of fashion is mainstream. Most people hate it, but it's a mainstream form of fashion, yet it's completely inaccessible. That's different from music, where inaccessibility makes something unmainstream. Might be a class thing (designer clothing being expensive, and underground music generally being cheaper)

sure, most times you're paying for the name, but many times you're paying for the uniqueness of whatever's new - or fine details that the unaccustomed eye might not immediately notice

yeah this line of his pretty much took the battle jacket fashion from crust/punk/metal scenes and made clothing out of it. some pretty famous people ended up wearing a lot of it, not that that had to do with why i enjoy it aesthetically. but its not very practical and expensive.

There was some dude out there that was actually making hand painted leather jackets for celebs and charging a shit ton of money for them. At least they look better then this trash because they had real band logs on them. But still, fuckin silly.
On a side note, i miss my vest. I think my ex ended up with it in the great divide. Prolly thew that shit away too.

I like fashon. Always have. I usually just rock some nice jeans and a plain T though. Simple.
Its kinda interesting though how different mens from womens fashon is. Ill but a couple of nice pieces that cost a LOT of money, but they last forever. My wife has 2 full closets full of clothes that usually get worn only a couple times bc there usually just cheap shit.
A lot of people think im crazy for having a $600 pair of boots, or $400 pair of jeans. But those things are going to last me the better part of 10 years (assuming i dont get fat again

)

If this is what passes for "fashion", I'd much rather be unfashionable than wear what looks like a bin liner hanging under a shite overpriced jacket

That fake metal look with the fake patches is the lamest thing I have ever fucking seen. It looks like shit, probably costs a lot and misses the point.
I got a sleeveless denim jacket/vest with patches all over it and I just bought it cheap from a vintage clothes place and collected patches of bands I like and it looks way better and actually means something regarding the culture.
Those are like spending £100 on a t shirt that says dubstep on it.
It's almost offensively lame

I've been dressing exactly like this - in different muted colors - for about 10 years now...

I do like to switch up my scarves - shoes - watches - etc - would do eyewear more if it was cheaper...
People who wear glasses need to have 4 or 5 pairs a year - That would be my luxury expenditure if I could...
I wish they made UFOS with colorblocks at the bottom - or big greek key pattern - or chinese embroidery patterns...
...the bottom 6 or 8 inches...would love
