OK. I'll give feedback, though I'm no expert and will make this clear when I comment.

The build up isn't quite there yet.. Trying to get a decent quality sound bite of Obama saying "Aww fuck this" but they are all pretty poor quality

Noistorm - Sick intro.. Don't change it! Drums are very punchy and well mixed... 16th synth stabs in the intro are really good and have JUST enough movement. Great beat. Love how the 16th stabs turn into a riser.. Then the second riser is amazing. Amazing basslines.. This is awesome work man.. Probably one of the best tunes I've heard in a while already!

atticuh - Love the playful melody at the beginning.. Quite complex too. I'm getting a big IDM vibe from this.. Very much like early Aphex.. The atmosphere dropping in at 32 seconds is just what it needs! Maybe bring the ambience up a little? Very good stuff!

stranger sounds - I really like the pattern in the intro but the hats need to be brought up! Vocal and crashes are great.. I like the block hit/rim hit thing, sounds great! Drop is really, really good.. Great drum beat, very chill.. Definitely needs more sub (if there is any).. I'm not picking it up on these RP6's

donpablo - Cool instrument, what is that? It falls away pretty quickly at 7 seconds.. Mixing issue? I like the wubs creeping in! They sound quite distant.. Is this an effect you've gone for? Drums are great! Love the crash sounds.. Loving the drums and ambience! You've done a great job of making the drop anti-climatic in a very good way.. Great piano melody! Awesome work man
Wouldn't mind more feedback on this if you guys don't mind! End of last page = crap amounts of feedback!

Listened to it again,pretty bangin man,Ant that synth that comes in the end is very nice,wuold love to hear more of it! with melodies.And the only thing that i would change a little,is that reece,its sound cool and heavy and original,but maybe it has too much "Dirt| or high end,but if it does,its minimum.Dunno,Its the only thing i could give criticisms.Sounds awesome though :) Also would love to hear more hihats hah :))

That synth in the intro, teach me how to make it! i love that sound. Your song is really good, can't really add much suggestion apart from that i felt you could bring the hats up a bit more. Its pretty spot on though really.

Just an aside - I actually really LIKE the Soundcloud based feedback, because it's inline and easy to track. It's very easy to miss feedback if you're unlucky enough to post as the last entry on a page, people step over it paging etc.

Carry on!

@Snick01
(Still do feedback even so because people above you might not be getting any + some people wont reply to yours)

I like the intro reminds me of Planet Earth (In a good way) I do like the vocal aswell I am just a bit unsure about the drums. It does have a liquidy vibe to it though. Drums seem a bit quiet and a bit flat. first minute and ten could do with a bit more variation just to keep it interesting. I like the riser into the reecey bass that does work well! I'd just say work on the drums ad a bit of variation and its close!

@deafblindmusic
Big tune in your sig man! Drums work + everything else. enough variation to keep it interesting I am slightly against brostep but this one works well. props.

@stranger_sounds
I like whats going on in the background and the build up I do think the drums are a bit splashy though especially the snare. could have a real garagey feel to it if the drums where a bit lighter and maybe a rimshot snare or perc! I like the vocals aswell it sounds pretty professional besides the drums big ups!

Something I been putting a few hours in to here and there, I always get to a point where I am pleased but I can't seem to nail the variation to keep it interesting. any feedback appreciated!

Thanks mate, could someone please tell me what "brostep" is? Cos I'm not following any particular recipe for things I produce, I just do what feels right from a percussion/structure perspective. I don't tend to follow genre/sub-genre on a track by track basis...perhaps it's just my sound :D

@InTheCrowd : Incidentally, loving the track in your post. I'd suggest bringing back in the ambiance you spent so much time building in the intro after the first major section (~0:55) to keep the variation moving along. Everything else sounds good, look forward to hearing more.

Thanks man appreciate the feedback, good idea I never think of filling it out more as it goes on I just stick to my minimal mindset (Usually does not work lol)

Brostep is the whole transformer mid bass pure energy tracks (datsik/excision/etc) the whole wobbly side of dubstep.
(Aka the popular side :lol: )

LOL, thanks for the explanation, I don't really listen to much dubstep in honesty, most of it seems shrill, over-simplistic guff, with a few notable exceptions of course. That's probably why I don't feel like I come down on one side of the genre vs. another. In fact, based on what I have heard, I'm more interested in trying to make my own sub-genre, stuttery/break/bass driven...or dub-break-step...or break-dubstep :P

Cheers mate really glad you're digging it :D

Reeses you say? Well in this track, it's a self-made Massive patch, 2 oscillators saw waveform, slightly detuned, mono'd, unison on the voicing, dimension expander, parabolic shaper, phaser, LFO automation on a notch and on the secondary bandreject filter. There's also an envelope on the ramp rate for the LFO so I can keep the timing in sync with the track, but affect the amount that it affects the filter automation. Then on the channel insert (in order) : compressor to keep some of the transients in line, chorus (low mix level), phaser (low level mix with automation on the mix level), bitcrush with heavy automation (light sample divide and 16khz sample rate), finally into Izotope Stutter Edit for additional rhythmic processing. All of the mid-range basses in the "reese" category are routed through a group channel with high-pass filter rolling off everything below 400hz with a slight cut at 5khz and a tiny bit of boost around 18khz. That group channel itself has inserts for stereo widening and 2 pre-fader sends for reverb and a dub-delay (TAL Dub3). And if memory serves, there's additional automation on there for some of the EQ to accentuate cut-off winding up to the drops etc.

Then basically a huge heap of automation on controller lanes for pretty much everything. In fact, you probably can't hear all the little tweaks and changes because they are so quick, but that's just my anally retentive nature showing through there :D. I'm happy to share some of the patches I've put together actually, I sat down for a few hours one day and came up with about 30 different sounds, some of them usable, some of them just plain weird. I guess the sum-total is : play with your detuning/voicing/phasing/distortion/automation to get that ripping sound.

Hope that helps

@ Specimen - Hold back on the highs and mids a bit, they're a little distracting to the rest of the tune, that initial synth needs to have its bit-crush reeled in as it sounds like its distorting. Perhaps add a little more variation to the pitch sweeps, ear kinda tires of it after a while, but a good production.

@ Inthecrowd - Good vibes, I can see what you're trying to go for and you're halfway there, try and fill the space without overly doing it, things as subtle as multiple channels sent slightly a send can increase the atmosphere and keep it full without noticing to many sonic changes.

Heres mine, havnt really produced in a while so tear away.

@Specimen-Yarp :intro got too much distorded sub, drums are ok but a lack of variation. the synths sounds are a bit weak. but you are in the good way, second drop is quite clean but lack of variation.

@InTheCrowd: intro is pretty cool. the rest is fine but there is a lack of sounds, more sounds (synths and drums) could be nice. mixdown is cool.

@snick01: stop it and do some dubtep dude! :corncry: joking. intro is cool with this pitced voice. then the tune is ok but the synth sounds a bit preset style and the drums are lacking layering.

@Ascian: your tune sounds very good at the begining but then turns a bit messy. and arent we in a dubstep forum anymore :corntard: (100bpm?)

@donpablo: that tune is definitly a good one. nice mixdown anr the sounds fit well together congrats.would like to here it on my 10k soundsystem

@stranger_sounds: and now some cheesy house :corndance: tune is ok, i like the drums. a lack of variation perhaps. like the second part at 3.40.

@; love the 8bit touch. cool drums and stupid melody. not that dancable but its ok.

@Noisestorm: no comment....but the tune is ok, slow it down to 70 and it will be perfect

@NightLight: at least you're at the right bpm :dunce: but the sounds need more work.

so here are mine
feedback really apreciated

@critical sound system: On your first one, sounds like the hihats are really high and they're kinda drowning out the rest of the drums.
@astral: If you take out the hats right at the build, It'll make the drop feel alot bigger. In fact try a few different things to make the drop sound bigger. I think either make the intro -1 or -2 db quieter or do a slight bandpass (something like 100hz to 15k hz). I did enjoy the track though :W:
@specimen-yarp: I think the intro could start off quieter that way it has more room to build (felt like it was full volume almost half way through). And i think you need more sub in the drop. The intro had ALOT of bass then the drop was just hi's and mids. Loved the drop btw :4:

@subsynth it starts out of nowhere too much... build the intro up more. it's too repetitive as well, at the very least filter it a bit until the main bit comes in. the sub is sounding nice, could be louder though. really like the bad. the 303ish things could work, but they feel a bit out of place. i'm definitely not a fan of wobbles and yois and all that, but at least you did it with a modicum of taste.
