ffs, after medi went back to my mates and did some valium and then i don't remember much at all till i woke up in his bed at half 4 the next day (tho i think he passed out too and we put an empty pint glass on his head and lit a small fire in it)
turns out i was roused sleeping on his staircase at about 11am, i kinda remember stumbling up it think i must have just given up how embarrassing

Re: Fucked thread.
serious thoughts right now though. listening to that XOYO podcast on rinse on tonight... first of all plenty of those songs were from after 2005, but i still get this vibe that that time in music (like 2003-2009) was really special and different from other times/scenes, or maybe it was just a really special group of people that came together at the right time - skream benga mala coki yunx hatcha plastician loefah and many others.
i mean everyone moans that dubstep is dead but skream puts a lineup like this on and london goes MAD for it. clearly the demand is still there and probably larger than ever especially since increased global exposure. though idk what attendence was at the night. some of the old DMZs were probably larger.
i feel like to a certain extent it's that these guys all grew up together and are turning "that age" where they aren't as creative (ie that whole thing about how people get less creative/motivated/etc after ~30 - will provide some article or something tomorrow if anyone cares), so they aint making new tunes. i guess this is why shit has to be cyclical.
anywayz i just get this really really real feeling like 'goddamn i wish i was there' and 'i hope this happens again' because while i really like the music that's being made right now, it's just not the same, something is def missing... or maybe it's just 'first love,' first music i really actually cared about and reached me on a different level than whatever i was listening to before. and i could play most of these tunes in the same order in my room (w/ or w/o h/phones
shout out terpitz don't fuck it up m8 ) but it's totally not the same and when you hear hatcha drop horror show out of middle man at 1:22:56 and the crowd in the background, it's just like..... wow that is fucking special.
or maybe is this one of those drug epiphanies...
sorry for the ramblez but i hope someone gets kernal of 'yeah i get that' out of this

Re: Fucked thread.
yeah blatantly the golden age shit is golden age for a reason
a 2005 youngsta set sounds fresher than most shit today imo, especially in "bass" music

here hear
and it's not nostalgic to prefer something made in the past
(like cellared wine)
it's recognizing that everything new isn't necessarily progress
I'm beginning to think of that musical time from London/Bristol as equivalent to one of those artistic eruptions
like the Bauhaus or the impressionists
which is having a profound influence
but needs to be requaffed every now and again
to appreciate how good it was
