01:08 - gnarly, rhythmic, hit the spot
01:36 - that's the one, especially the variation on yr main bass. Big sound mate, well done.

u might want to play with the intro some - the synths sound like presets - and reflect that around the 2min mark, but keep those two drops PLEASE, wish my first track was that good. Peace.

PS soundcloud.com is what most people use here - just sign up and off u go

max4beats - i got to go watch The Wire, catch yr tune tonight

just kidding, ill stop being a looney now

LTUK (Rubber) - "Impass"

props:
+intro drums and ambience set the mood BRILLIANTLY
+Guitar-ish melody / Piano melody are VeRy well done... juuuust the right amount of reverb
+love the way the piano accents the guitar line, well written..
+holy snap! is that a thunder sample (@0:28)? talk about mood enhancement
+nice switchup of the melody in the second riff

advice:
-second drop could be much more pronounced, with a shorter break, to really add punch to ambience
-not really dubstep at all... BUT! thats not a bad thing.. just pointing it out..
-ambience is killer, but would love to hear a really good piano solo somewhere in the third drop.. maybe bring in someone who is supremely talented on the keys and get them to take your melody and run with it..
-needs some stronger, maybe even slow oscillating sub-bass, most definitely
-snare could use *slightly* more punch and drive

overall:
=so, this one is a dreamer, for sure... strange that i found it on this forum, but refreshing to hear new things, i truly love all music! once the bump end of the drum is punchier, maybe with some clever high hats, this could even be a swayer at the club, with people holding each others shoulders in sheer intoxicated splendor!!! biggup
:w: :w:
Thanks for the feedback Knell, always very much appreciated. I'll work on writing a solo for the 3rd drop - as it feels a bit sparse to be sure. And upping the snare and re-arranging the drop too. And maybe a few different hat patterns. May or may not wobble the sub as I was frightened this would kill the mood but I'll definately try it (ooh maybe sidechain the sub to selected kicks.) I get your point about it not being dub but I don't know any other forums where you get more than "sick" or "whack" as feedback (so big up you!)

Knell - TimeToRUN (w/ SY DEFECTS)
Ok so I've listened to this three times desperately trying to nitpick and I've failed... sO it's just compliments ;)
The siren is awesome, that and the bass compliment each other well giving the track A LOT of movement. As I was led to expect there is a lot of variation in the bass, which means it hasn't got boring fourth time around. The breaks are well timed and the melody w/ping pong delay is superb. Best work yet... Whats to come?

who sir me sir?
erm nothin special wobz-wise on those tracks, Mostly lo-down sine or sine+square, one oscillator an octave below the other, with LFO on the oscilators themselves (not the frequency) - or just wiggling the pitchbend about. Seems to work nice on subs that way cos yr moving thru different frequencies where it counts, but keeping a steady output (whereas LFO on the sub's freq would make it go quiet-loud-quiet more than it would on a mid-range sound)

synths is where i was puttin the hours in, mostly trial and error but basically going for that G-Funk sound with saw/sawtooth oscillators [EDIT: saws & squares for a couple], very heavy on the detune, heavy on the portamento (probably too much, can't help it), light on the distortion, plus automating the amp's attack rate (and freq filter) so they're different for different notes. No rules but i'd say it's about the detune and the portamento if u like that 70s hi-pitched ting

00:04: like yeah!
00:18: LIKE YEAH!
00:34: I like how u stuck with the theme, the female rounds it off nice
00:48 - cool break down, yr moving quick to get to this point by 48secs, that's a good thing IMHU
00:58: that's what i'm talkin bout. G-Funk. BIG
01:46 Right there man, u gave me a "wish i'd done that" moment ;)
02:15: nah! now u've done it... every1 smilin now
03:00: happy u stuck with it now. u got all yr variety done, then u jus bring in that little harmony to keep it there. Good work fella, i feel it.

suggestions? not much, maybe come back to yr first sample again, twist it up a lil bit?

Come on people, where's the love for the 15yrold??? lad's a hero :t:

Mate, props for yr track and for puttin it up here.
I was tryin to logout but anyway... feedback is u've got a great ear for noises - dutty big hairy noises - and how they sit together. That big midrange bass sounds correct to me, specially with the strings behind it, and the wobble is cool at different rates. I think next step fmight be to get a tune in yr head, somethin u can whistle, before playin the notes, OR take the notes u got there, colour code different bits and chop-n-change them a bit so they hit a 4-bar groove, like green-blue-green-blue-green-purple-green-RED - repeat! does that make sense? First impression is u've got yr groove right there at 02:47 - 02:53, that tickled my pickle. Also 03:26 taking the wobz up high there worked nice too. How does that sound on every fourth bar?

Oh, and respect for 00:19 nice how u put the sub in just before the mid-range - good timing. What a hero

00:01: Big sound already, straight to the point, I'm smiling after 1second :)
00:07: Had to jump up and turn that sht DOWN!! How the fk did u get it so LOUD?? Props on the comp +EQs
00:32 to 00:35: Your masterstroke! It's like, u saw a hazard up ahead, dropped down a gear, started to brake, but then u think fk-it and go straight up to 3rd and hit the gas and... erm yes mate, spot on
00:55 subtle variation in vibe got it just right so no-ones bored but keeps the flo intact
01:04 + 02:34: the only room for improvement i can think of is u could vibe out more here - suspect u spent more time on yr hard noises than yr soft ones?? (but the world is a better and a more noisier place because u did: yr hard noises are LARGE)
01:35: round the circle, everyone satisfied, u came back CORRECT
02:03: next level
03:12 crisp ending, what can i say, large tune, u deserve to feel good about it, enjoy yr wknd

PS still aint opened yr goodybag yet, i can feel an allnighter coming on...
:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

looks like you've developed your own review style! lovin it man, the descriptiveness and the kind words, thank you.. the fact you're takin time to do in depth reviews truly shows your passion.

lol at your 00:07 comment... gotta give SY the credit for teaching me to get Reason to be that loud... which was dangerous considering the sounds i like to play around with..  really he just gave me that combing synth at the beginning, a bit of drums, and the melody notes, and i looked at his mastering skills and took copious notes, then took it to a brutal Baron level haha. that collab took place over 5300 miles, considering he's in the UK and im in LA, so it was fun trading reason files

have fun with those Combi's, feel free to drop them wherever you want, cant wait to hear what ya do with them.

much love, will bust out some reviews for you soon soon :w: :w:

HangMan - "In the Gypsy Van"

props:
+brilliant title, brilliant intro, kinda reminds me of a little faster/tweaked version of the intro to datsik's remix of Excision's "Subsonic" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1Oi1VZwpRs)... as you can guess, this is a very, very good thing
+sub bass is really well done
+swampy!
+beat is well done, perfect delay
+dreamer, dirty dirt dreamer, this one is
+the room started moving... oh... oh... im a little scared now

advice:
-hmm. dunno if it's because of my memories of the datsik remix mentioned above, but i was expecting a drop!
-dont get me wrong, this is a beautiful song, and you shouldnt feel like you should follow other artists footsteps
-some sort of harsh sample/break would be classic and add a little crust to the pie you've got going here
-the flow is great, but like i said it's like building and building but no release, which is frustrating for me, i was ready to headbang, really

overall:
=mastering and mixing is done here, i think, as it sounds super crisp... this is ready to be mixed in to any set for a trance-y grime-y chillout. i guess the harshness could come in a ..ahem.. BaronRogue remix or something haha!!

much love bruvva :w:

Pretty happy with this one.
Slide guitaring wobblyness.
I'm going to be giving the mixdown another pass, so any comment's and critiques on it are appreciated.

Ohkay... so i said i wasnt gonna do anymore reviews til the morn when im sober, but this tune was too much for me to sit there silent...

Rook - "Cage the Elephant - ANRFtW (RookReMix)"

props:
+YES!!!! brilliant idea for a remix
+wubz are INCREDIBLY well done, so so so so sosososo tasty
+such a good flow to it, could listen to that main riff all day every freakin day
+damn :o
+so freakin crunk. you must let me download this!!!!! i want this!!!!!! gimme!!!!!!!!!
+just kidding. sorta. i really enjoyed this enough to beg for a 320
+so glad you followed the original songs flow. brilliant

advice:
-drums need some more punch!!
-panning is a little too intense at the beginning, i actually checked to see if my headphones were breaking haha
-overall mix is weak on the mastering/volume side.. maybe its because i just made myself deaf by cranking up my headphones as loud as they go..
-let me put this on the radio here in LA, pleeeease?!?
-Everyone but rook: take notes. i know i will

overall:
=eh, you can fill this part out yourself with the comments above. well done, this one would make the crowd go INSANE!!
i must know what you used to make those sounds

Hey man, I really appreciate it!
I agree with your comments on the mix. I'm still not particularly good at that end of it so it's been a struggle getting it to sound as heavy as I'd like, will definitely be spending more time on the drums on my second pass.
And absolutely, drop me a message so I don't forget and I'll toss you the link when it's done.

EDIT: Most of the synths in this were made in massive and beefed up with various fx plugins.
