Did any of you guys watch this tutorial ?

This guy walks you through the process of how to get an almost perfect Skrillex wob. Why are you still trying to figure it out? You NEED Ableton Live to do it, and as far as I can see you won't be able to recreate it in a another DAW. He leaves out some tricks to make it easier AND he leaves out the distortion you'll need (sounds like Ohmicide), but other than that it's spot on.

@orca You can do this on Fl studio. Just use massive, fm8 or whatever vst you are using for the "raw" sound. Link it to a insert on the mixer. Put in a Parametric EQ 2. After that create an automation clip for for Freq and BW. I will try to recreate it and post it here tomorrow.

Im sure there are other ways of setting up a filter the same way with some external VST of better quality rather than the default shitty Ableton filters.

Also that guy is still far from the growl on Scary Monsters. Using the effects on FM8 will not get you there. If you drop a cabinet distortion thing it ends up sounding too washed up and sort of canned. It just doesn't sound right when you try it yourself. Also the talkwah thing on FM8 will also ruin the sound if you use it. Im pretty sure Skrillex didn't even program the bass on Scary Monsters. Sounds too complex for a guy that was doing really average produced music before the Skrillex thing blew up. Rumor is he lost the preset and you'll not be hearing that synth anymore, thats why all of his post-SMANS tracks have this less impressive sound on their synths (post-SMANS stuff sounds like it could all be done on Massive)

Some of the growls are really simple to make, but I can't seem to crack the Died this way growl. (The one in the intro) :/

Exactly. He gives the samples away, but the bit that would have been interesting is not in the video unfortunately.

After having watched the video, copied the eq values [mostly] and mapped out a tiny bit of automation on only the first filter's freq. I have nearly the same sound and it is quite similar to some of the sounds you might hear in a Skrillex track.

Although, the closer I've gotten to emulating his bass sounds, and after hearing the bass track in the Korn remix stem, I am coming to the conclusion that the sounds are uninteresting, limited in usability, and unoriginal (let's be honest as this point).

I think I'm much more concerned with a nice reese (reece?) rather than any 'growl'.

Anyway, here's what it sounded like with a bit of mid reverb on a send channel, a few other effects, and a tiny bit of automation:

I'm not talking about that portion of the Korn bass. Listen to the bass stem and you will find more than just the 'yoy'. As for why I would listen to it, well I guess I just wanted to hear it on its own.

hypefiend thats pretty close to the "full russian" bass, i wish xkore would have used a snare like yours though, i cant stand the drums in that songs.
