Yeah well I just mix with vinyl, and I've always thought when I made a tune I feel is good enough that I'd want to have a mix with it, that i'd get it cut to dubplate. I thought it would be quite a longer way until I liked one enough to do it but i'm liking the track i'm working on right now so will make a B side too get it cut, am excited to have my own tune on wax :)

Respect man, that puts uploading to SC to shame concerning commitment.

I haven't even done that yet! Done a few private ones to show friends and a few other people but yet to actually do a sc upload! If I remember to do so I'll give your track a listen when I'm at my monitors tomorrow and give some feedback.. :)

I'm happily married.
My wife would probably slap me if I even tried to put such drivel on.

Just saying :D

I'll be honest though, I don't like house.
At all.

Techno is a different story though.

I love it all across the board. Someday I'll make something crazy & Cool..I swear it by my..this post.

This crackhead tune is like 1/4th of where I want to be...I am not pleased with my progression after 3 1/2 months.

q-t wrote:The rapid stab which plays the lower, kind of muffled sounds, sounds like it has a bit of attack on the filter. It's def band passed to get that hollow sounds. Try setting the bandpass filter to around 300-700 hz or somewhere close. It's also has a delay effect. Put it on a send or as an insert. If you set the delay as an insert, you may want to try to put in before the band pass filter in the effect chain, to really mold the initial stab with the delay. Add reverb to taste. Sounds like dark reverb though, and should therefore be relatively short to not make things muddy.
I've been playing with this for ages and whenever I get close to the sound I want, it just doesn't sound BIG. I got it sounding kind of like the leads in Froth / Mercy using your guidelines, but it's so quiet and I can't seem to get it louder without it distorting. Can anyone help?

Put a distorter and compressor at the end of the signal chain, after all of the effects. Turn the threshold down low and drive it hard.
You may want to do some EQ afterwards to remove some of the lower mid frequencies.

Edit: Or just turn down everything else

Hahaha. Funnily enough, I'd been going with option 2, and had recently resorted to option 1... Couldn't help thinking compressing the fuck out of it might've been 'wrong' somehow, but fuck it! No rules
