I lolled at the entirity of this thread.

Agreeing with hierarchy comment tho, its like the argument with bringing dubstep into the mainstream. Its like people want to lock it all in a closet and keep it as "oldschool" as possible and if anyone dares try and bring the genre forward then everyone throws a hissy fit.

Like pendulum in the drum and bass scene.

I have no problem with new producers and producers that try to push the scene forward.
But I do have a problem, and I'm not the only one, with new producers who act like they are the shit while they're actually making imitations of the sound of other established producers.

Like Cyrus always says, people don't want more A, B and C's, they want a brand new D.

I listened to both cooki monsta and that other guys tunes and I really don't like them. No, I'm not saying they're bad producers, because I believe they possess the right techniques to make beautiful tunes.
But in fact, it bothers me that I don't hear the difference between their tunes and many other stuff on myspace, soundcloud, digital-tunes etc etc etc.

Also bananas.

Yeah but so many people piss all over something that has some midrange 'cack' to it.

Now you cant try and tell me thats because you dont like things that sound like other producers. If someone came on here with some fresh tunes that take influences, and dare I say - sound like, Mala everyones gunna start jizzing off uncontrollably all over their face.

The 'new sound' thing is just an excuse!

Maybe the majority of the forum yeah.

To be honest I would probably like those tunes better, but it still would kind of bother me that it's just an imitation.

Although I personally prefer the older, minimal, sub bass orientated, 2-step style my problem isnt with the midrange 'cack' producers but the type of people it seems to be attracting and the attitude they bring. Its like they are following a fashion and believe nothing existed before Rusko.

I dont actually understand why everyone argues about different types of dubstep. It's a genre and has many different sounds to it. This is a dubstep forum covering the whole genre so there is going to be a lot of different sounds being showcased. It's like saying with horror films the saw movies are shit, just aload of gore, i like proper movies like stephen king's IT. Horror is a massive Genre as is Dubstep. Also i'm almost certain that everyone of you who got into dubstep more recently, say late 2007/2008 went with the mainstream and so on... theres a learning curve when you enter a completely new scene and that takes time. These people who comment on youtube "coki isnt dubstep" will look back in a few months and think gosh i well didn't get it then.

I happen to like pretty much all of dubstep, from basic simple wobblers, deep sub bass tunes, filthy robotstep, grimey shizz... etc.

One last thing can't people just listen to music instead of fussing about shizz, It's all the fussing that makes you guys think the scene is going bad etc.

Also cookiemonsta is sik!

And before you say i like everything from deep tracks of this forum from the likes of melodik and moonchild to nice simple dubby dubstep like loefah - the system too evil cack like funtcase and datsik.

Thats just people man. While I do enjoy some of the more minimal moody stuff, I enjoy heavy, dirty tracks more. Thats just kindof my musical roots I guess, I get annoyed when people just generalize the sound and make me feel crappy for liking what I like :<
