Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
another way ist to use Fl as an Vsti in your host. Works fine with reaper
Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
is there any other way of exporting wav out of edison than just to save? I remember hearing something about just dragging and dropping or some ctrl+c? Everyone drop the Edison knowledge!nowaysj wrote: If you were not hip to the use of edison in a mixer channel. Pay attention to that, because it is huge, much huger than just recording the audio output from fl. This is an excellent way to resample and just take all your sounds to the next level. And to do it VERY QUICKLY, which again, is huge.

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
theres a button which let's you drop the audio in edison directly to a sampler channel
Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
nice one, thanks mate!buttock wrote:theres a button which let's you drop the audio in edison directly to a sampler channel
I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the Love Philter and could explain some stuff about it. I'm pretty confused by the x-y modulation. Love Philter anyone?

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
I have this saved in my production handbook. Can't remember who/where I got it from, so if it does belong to someone let me know and I'll update it accordingly;s3f wrote:nice one, thanks mate!buttock wrote:theres a button which let's you drop the audio in edison directly to a sampler channel

Should be something to get you started with, apologies for the formattingLFO Filters via LovePhilterI have two fairly specific questions. I've been producing Dubstep for a while, with a fair amount of success, there are two things i would like to inquire about.
I can make a wobble that sounds fairly hard, but i find the lfo setting on most programs to be a bit lacking, partiularly, the oscilation shape control. in fl's oscilate controls, for example, i can make the wave, but i can't control the actual shape of the wave (beyond being able to change height, etc).
eg, the wave is shaped like this
/\
/ \
/ \
/ \
but, say i want more of a ramp in;(excuse the bad img)
/\
/ \
| \
/ \
..i'm out of luck. i have massive as well, and it offers more presets, but no way to directly draw the oscilation (or i'm not well versed in doing so)
is there a program (vst, etc) that allows design of the oscilation wave shape similar to how sytrus allows you to design envelope?
secondly, how do you "make an envelope control the cutoff frequency". This may actually be the solution to the first question as well(or what i'm going for). I found a sytrus instrument (depthcore, specifically) that has an envelope, that appears to be controlling either the volume or the lfo, yet i am not able to replicate this effect on any program (i probably just need more practice in linking patches.)
Even outside of sytrus, using the Fruity envelope controller, I am s.o.l, i will design an envelope that bears the appearance of what i want, then take it to the fruity fast lp, right click the cutoff knob (like i would to oscillate noramlly), and click, "link to controller", select my envelope.. and nothing. it doesn't control my note in any way.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
love philter lets you make ramp wave lfos, Im not talking about envelopes ... You dont need an envelope for ramp lfo, shits the key to that vaski/cookie monsta sound ... Love philter, put the bitcrushers before it and the choruses after, turn the one little knob on the cutoff lfo till it turns into a ramp, go nuts ...
Okay yeah here's great example...
Note Im puting the <lfo> on the <volume> hence the lfo tab and volume tab being selected, and the little dot in the bottom left corner next to the lfo picture is clicked in.
I turn the Tens knob a bit to round the lfo waveform out some...
Then the SK knob turns it into a vaski wobble
Then you use the patterns to control the lfo rate.
Love philters an awesome program once you get to playing with it, honeslty, id rank it as the most versatile filter bank Ive seen to date, if the interface wasnt as scary looking if not scarier then sytrus's ...
I use it mostly when a filter needs automated, its nothing speical as far as the actual filters go its your abilty to modulate and automate the fuck sake out of everything there thats nice... COmine it with event data on some of the knobs too your like me, you wont use it for total wubs haha, as easy as it makes them... get the x y pad running to a lowpass highpass combo, put that shit on your percussion, n go nuts haha... combine it with event data on the pan and some of the inbuilt fancy effects (flange phase) youll see wha tI mean haha.
Oh I forgot to mention just generally put lovephilter before or after dblue glitch... run into edison, leave glitch on random go nuts with love x y functions and lfo's n shit haha. resample a million times. Synth sound sets like no other.
Okay...
See the tabs along the center, that say pan, vol, cut, res, low, band, hi, ect?
Click on one, and youll be given tabs for pattern, mods, lfo...
The pattern, in each tab, controls the pattern for thats tab, during the fl pattern your currently in (lol mouthful)... LFO controls the lfo for the tab you have selected, x/y define the pad, ect.
You can edit all the tabs, so you have a gating volume pattern with an lfo on the bandpass cutoff and a hipass lowpass on your xy pad, real fast and simply, if you think about it like that. Pretty crazy effect...

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
yeah I'm familiar with the basics of the Love Philter, i.e. assigning a LFO to cutoff, but what really confuses me is the x-y modulation deal. Thanks for posting that though, had seen it previously in another thread but still thumbs up!

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
This is probably a simple answer, it usually is. But I'm one for asking stupid quesitons and this one is driving me up a wall for about a month now.
I can make cool sounds, beats, slice voice samples. I feel like I have a decent grasp on the elements needed to make a track, but no idea how to put it together. Can someone point me in the right direction as to which concept I should be focusing on learning in order to start to get a flow?
Heres an example. I can make a wobble, w00t. But besides automating the speed in 3x0sc I have no idea how to change the speed and have it as a playlist track. Particularly in massive. I tried to automate a knob in a filter by right clicking. The obvious option given was "Control Filter_Cut/Pram1". But when I click on it nothing happens >_<.
Is automation the main method of controlling a sounds action?
Thanks!

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
In terms of writing a song... do it however you want. Some people suggest just starting at the beginning, make the intro, then the main body, then the break down section then the second main body then the outro. Just do it in a straight line. I usually do my main body (and then stop and move on to the next song) then the break, then the intro, then the second main body then the outro. But do it however works best for you.
Because you are learning, I suggest taking a song that you like, not that you just like, but a song that you like the way it moves along, in and out of sections, and figure out it's bpm. Make sure you match up the bpm in the track before you bring it in (just because you are a beginner, you can do it afterwards, but things can go wrong and just get a little complex)
Then bring it into your daw, flstudio, and just put it in the playlist. Line it up so that the song starts at the very first beat of the first measure, make sure the timing is right, so like the drop probably happens at 17 (the after the 16th measure) or maybe 33, etc. Then just put markers in the timeline where changes or sections of the song happen. Like if the drop kicks in at 17 highlight the 17th measure in the timeline in the playlist, and hit alt t, type in the name for the marker like "drop" hit enter, then move on to the next section, highlight the first measure of the change, alt t, so and and so forth. You can then mute the song track, and on your timeline you have a diagram of a song that moves along pretty good. Then just fill in the sections in the order that you want. I don't recommend doing this indefinitely, but this will be a great way to learn from other producers that have figured out (or copied) how to do this for themselves.
0----
Now in terms of automation... you can only right click and automate flstudio's devices. Like stuff that is part of flstudio. Other vsts and what not you have to go too tools (in the big main menu at the top / last tweaked parameter / create automation clip. (I'm thinking of making a macro so I don't have to type that out, at least twice a day). Now you will have an automation clip in the playlist. You can then draw in all the automation you want to get your g-narly wobbles a wobbling. This is all assuming you have fl9, and a legit copy. If you don't have a legit copy, I really recommend buying it. You can start for $99 that is pretty cheap holmes. It will help you learn all this shit, I guarantee.
If you have further questions, try and ask them a little more clearly. Peace bro.

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
I'm trying to figure out how I use slide notes with Massive. I don't mean the "monophone-legato" setting in massive so notes slide automatically. I mean using the slide block (the one next to 'portamento' in the piano roll) with massive. Everytime I compose something with this kind of slide, whatever massive synth I'm using just plays the root note without the slide.
Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
Can't use slide notes with anything other than flstudio devices, ala 3xosc and sytrus.
Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
BUt, go into fruity, hit f1. search for "keyboard controller" it should be like the 4th choice in the results. Read that fucking page of absolutely unintelligibly written notes. You can do semi tone to semi tone slide with this, just like the slide blocks for fl's generators.
I'm sorry, I don't really understand how this thing works. Maybe you could figure this out, and tell me.

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
Thank you! this helped immensely.I did see this tip posted here before scrolling through the posts, but for some reason it didnt click. I'm still playing with the demo, trying to get concepts and a work flow. The exercise you mentioned is going to help a lot once I get a technique for making the exact sounds in my head.nowaysj wrote:In terms of writing a song... do it however you want. Should do you to get started
Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
have a look into the DSF sample swap, lots of great free stuff in there. if you're just starting out you might not want to pay 20 bucks for a couple of sampleswub wrote:Be4ler wrote:I'm looking for Dubstep drum loops for FL studios 9 and one have a site i can get a few off of?

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
There seems to be some pretty clued up FL users here maybe ill try my luck with this one i've been trying to figure out over the past few night...
I have been using gross beats in the mixer effects and was pretty impressed with the time envelope and how you can get some cool movement in to your sound. However it only seems to loop over one bar again and again ...
is there any way of say extending this time envelope over more than one bar? I'm sure there must be, i just aint seen this yet.
Any help would be great. nice1

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread
If there is, I haven't found/used it yet. But you can freely change around which time/volume envelope you want to hear. If you want to do this, right click the list of different time envelopes, then click "edit events". This gives you the ability to automate which envelope is played when (Where you click in the automater will trigger a different envelope. Click the lowest and you'll get the "empty"envelope. The one above that is the envelope 1 to the right of empty, one above that is 2 to the right of empty, etc). For most of gross beats presets, a new envelope will trigger every measure. Use the Momentary preset (click the top left down arrow, then Presets>Momentary), if you want immediate change when you automate it. Hope that makes sense, cause I just woke up from a napcrooked wrote:There seems to be some pretty clued up FL users here maybe ill try my luck with this one i've been trying to figure out over the past few night...
