True, I forgot that it is a noble argument to want to make sure that "dubstep remains dubstep" (i dont exactly know what that entails) because this is, after all, the dubstepforum(.com). However, the actual distinction between "evolution" and "bastardization" is relatively in the eye of the beholder. I define "good" music as music that goes on to influence the creation of other music (music that inspires other people to become musicians, djs, producers, etc.).

In that sense, I readily admit Skrillex is "good" because he's already had a major impact on the type of music that new electronic music producers want to create.

So if someone makes a simple beat to the sound of a toilet flushing and that inspires somebody its good music to you?

Its all about the numbers. So one song inspiring one person is not nearly as impactful as one song inspiring thousands.

And if they were the first people to successfully make beats out of flushing sounds, and sold half as many records as The Orb record where they sampled an elephant taking a shit (or inspired half as many people to make music as The Orb), then yes, they would be quite good.
