From what I can tell the US are stricter on sexual content/strong language than they are on violence. Here in the UK it's sexual content that is dealt with strictly while violence/strong language are given more leniency. It results in the same result in this instance but where it differs is I cannot imagine shows like The Thick Of It getting promotion in America.

No it's not the same thing, I'm claiming that the major difference between the two is that the UK is a lot more lenient on language than the US. At least from the televsion shows/films I've seen. The two main mods are dubway who is European (I apologise I forget where, but he's not British) and Seckle who is American.
