He got stringer. He got stinkum. He got many other Barksdales. I bet if Avon didn't go to prison and the war continued Avon would have eventually killed all of them. But of course this is a fictional television show so it would make no sense to bet on something like that

I'm just saying he probably would have tried again and succeeded if Avon didn't go to prison. Not to mention the second or even third time around would have been easier since Stinkum was gone, and then Omar could have continued chipping away at the Barksdale crew and eventually reached Avon.

Yeah, Omar was chipping away at the Barksdale crew but don't forget that Omar's crew was cut down by two thirds within weeks of the initial stash robbery.
Omar's sphere of influence was tiny (bout as far as the range of his shotty) while the Barksdale's sphere of influence reached far across state lines and into the political system. I just think it's short sighted to call Omar more powerful than Avon.

Just finished season three (again). Even though it's not one of the best it's still so, so good - felt like the show could have ended there (had season four been commissioned at that point?).

Couldn't help but feel sorry for Stringer and I found myself rooting for the Barksdale crew even though I know how good the story gets with Marlow and them next season. Ugh, the sex scene with Daniels and the ginger bird was fucking grim though. The bit where the man and his misses who were buying all the burners were cuffed in the police station and she was calling him names so he turns to the other guy and says "I can't wait to go to jail" had me creasin'

I was completely enamored with this show when I watched the entire series for the first time in 2010. Excellent writing and dialogue and character development despite the large range of characters.
