Seth McFarlane is unfunny but he used to boink the dragon girl from GoT
so he must be capable of something worthful.
post feels nerdy ugggh

Someone should stage a meeting between Shocked Undertaker Guy and Shocked Gibbs Miss Guy.

what do you guys think is the most profitable or most 'viable' or realistic or 'worthwhile to pursue' producer/dj "career" out of these:
-producer-DJ: made a name for themself in production & started getting booked as a DJ because of their releases. Most likely skipped the "opening DJ" stage, may have done openings but it wasn't necessary because they headline now because of their production. (eg Truth, Commodo)
-pure DJ: made a name for themself opening & gradually becoming known for their DJ skills. Doesn't produce. (eg Joe Nice)
-label DJ: runs record label & headlines because of their association with the label. may have started as pure DJ or as a producer, but doesn't really produce anymore. (eg Youngsta, Loefah, Kursk)
I'm leaving out "label DJ-producer" because clearly that's the most profitable. (eg Mala, J:Kenzo, Pinch, VIVEK, Distance, Kode9). Also leaving out "pure producer" (eg Burial) because that's clearly less profitable than "producer-DJ".
I'm wondering cause I've heard some people say that with all the things they do, they still have to work a day job, and they even lose money on a lot of their stuff. I think I remember reading that even Coki had a day job until like 2 years ago? Just wondering if any these people make enough money from music to be able to live without a day job.

Guessing the big names in the scene do. Somebody was throwing around sums of about a £3k to book Loefah for a night. He'd only have to do 10 nights a year on that sort of money to be earning above the average wage. Then if you go down to the smaller guys who are getting maybe £300 a night, you're looking at about 7/8 nights a month at least to be nearing average wage before tax.dubunked wrote:what do you guys think is the most profitable or most 'viable' or realistic or 'worthwhile to pursue' producer/dj "career" out of these:

I'd say if you're at the Loefah, Four Tet, maybe Mala sort of level, you can probably pick and choose your nights and still do very well out of it. Otherwise, you might have to graft a bit more.
Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
i always wonder how they struggle so much the producer/dj
once you reach kinda big you're on like 1k-2k a show and you play 4/5 times a month
yet they still complain its shit
if you get onto a semi decent house label and do a season in ibiza on 2/3 shows a week you must come back with like 40k+

and thats not being 'famous' its just being big in tech house
theres the london fuse guys, and if you dont like a specific type of tech house you wont know who are they are, yet they must be on close to 100k a year with the amount they play

don't think there's going to be any more "success stories" anytime soon in "underground" dance music as the market is overly over-saturated
