Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
thank you to, swaggr, delta9uk, efence, and antman for the feedback. greatly appreciated good sirs.
@ swaggr - i missed your track, so i'll try an catch it when you repost.
@delta9uk - intro sounds good , drop works with the speed of the build. the synths are a bit loud and harsh on the highs try bringing them down just a bit. kick an snare seem to be drowned out from the basses. intro, break and outro melodies sound good but have plenty of room for layering of harmonized melodies there, so try adding a bit to that. also try slowing the drum patterns down a bit to change the groove here an there. good start man.
@efence - dign this track, very melodic, yet groovy at the same time. i like the simple atmosphere in this accenting the bounce of the bass an drums. i like the subtle harmony pads hidden in there. only thing i'd say is layer some type of soft brass synth in there to give is a more jazzy tone. not my usual flavor but this is a really nice track man. keep up the good work.
@antman - intro has a very minimal feel but it does work. the bike horn sound is kinda cool man, wouldn't have thought of it myself.. the kidna chaotic bass line feels like its building to another part, creating a tension. try beat slicing your patterns an making some really bouncy tonally shifty parts so that your parts can build into something stronger.
@thisiskilroy - i love that intro, i've heard it many times before an i just didint' feel like it dropped into the right vibe with the upbeat drop. the editing work in the intro was sweet, i've always liked that vocal cut. i think the glitching may be used just a bit to much, but hey i guess it just depends on the mood your in. sweet go at it man.
@the other drug - cool samples in the intro. nice wob automation as well. drop is nice to, the main grim bass is sweet. not really like the yah sorta basses in there. all the other synths are nice though. has plenty of variation to. not to bad man. just a bit to chaotic for my taste.. but i guess it just depends on the mood your in to. lol nice work for sure.
just in case anyone missed it. next go will be focused on variation, an lengthening since i finally think i have the mixdown pretty level. any other tips would be awesome.
thanks guys.
just bought a year of soundcloud, so i replace this track with another mixdown i just fine tweaked, and exported as WAV. check it.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
I'm not the most technically minded and all that but here goes some feedback.
@The Other Drug: I dig the atmosphere in the tune and stuff, your high hats and stuff and that pad could stand out more in your mix and maybe a little more snappy sound on your snare would sound good, like a little crisper.
@jimbeaux: Liking the track. Good growly stuff.
@antman: Like the patterns you have and it's a good sound. Would love to hear where it goes when you get FX and all on it and flesh it all the way out.
Anyway, here goes a thing I'm in the middle of, any thoughts/feedback/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

jimbeaux: diggin your track. sounding pretty evil.
Dub Scout: really impressed with your track! a lot going on but it sounds good. might need some eq'ing on the high end so everything sits nicely!
Biscuit: I think your second WIP sounds pretty cool. I am digging the drum patterns. Your kick and snare are kind of quiet though!
Check out my latest WIP. have been busy with school so this is my first track I have worked on in a while! I am trying something different: dnb. Let me know how it sounds. I am meticulous when I am mixing down so please give me some feedback on how all the tracks sit together! Thanks.

@Dub Scout
Really like the white noise build in the intro and the weirdness before the drop.The sounds in the main body of the tune i like to and the drums are really punchy.Snare could cut through a bit more but its there just lacks a bit at the bottom end i think but yeah all in all really good.
@jimbeaux
Nice intro and really like the drop.Got a proper downlink sound to the track and dare i say not to far of sounding excision esque.Love the piano sample your drop in just sounds a tiny bit flat maybe a touch of reverb or delay on it will ring it out but i am listening on headphones.Sub sits nice and sounds really warm too.Overall great track.
@The Other Drug
Quality sample at the beginning,i really like the flow of the track and all the sound design.Good use of effects with the vocals.Probably one complaint the drums are a bit quiet and lack a bit of punch on the snare but again i want that sample.
Right here's my new track,i know it sounds finished but i think i am going to go back in and edit a few of the sounds.All of the sound design was done by me and most if not all the sounds are straight out of fm8 and massive with very minimal effects added.Any critique will be appreciated.

@lloydy really tight percussion! i think it could do with being chopped up into more than 2 sections to avoid the listener getting bored
@blakedipp kick and snare sounding really nice and beefy, i think the main synth could do with some nice reverb to give you track a nice echoey feel
@biscuit love the vibe especially after 1.51, only thing i can suggest adding is some dark pads to open your track up!
@maza1 real nice raw synth, maybe take th kick out every 16 bars for about 8 bars but leave the snare and hi hats in just to keep the groove going!
@jimbeaux quality sounds ricking all other, solid mixdown, one thign you could add is a like melodic lead along with the piano
@the other drug jesus mate, absolute belter, nothing needs to be improved, nice work!
heres my track ive just finished, if you leave feedback on my soundcloud track, ill make sure ill leave a comment on your soundcloud track too!

@LukeRaith You owe me some new speakers mate. That shit was DOPE!
@lloydy Not really my cup of tea, but I'd love how to see it progresses.
@JimBeux Shit was dope! More! I DEMAND MORE!
My influence for my track comes from Skream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKqHTq3LhwY).
I heard it at Exit on MTVNHD about 20 minutes ago, and though... DAYUMN! And started doing a little dance in my head.
To say the least, I ended up with this.

Hope you like.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@the other drug, the drugginess of the song comes off clear. I think the vocal samples should be processed more. Like maybe with pitch or some sort of unique modulation. I really like you change it up, keeps its interesting. I like hows the song sludges along, is appropriate fro the subject. I would work on widening your drum sounds, the kick and the snare sound just mono, which is kind of plain. It also sounds like your kick is sidechained, and i don't think it has enough low end in even be worthwhile. I would just overlap the kick and the sub.
More background noises/padsi think would benefit.
@jimbeaux
It sounds like the levels for the midrange are much better than before. I could see this song benefiting with drums fills/flexes whatever they're called. I think it would sound cool if the slow midrange madness could contrast with big heavy fills at the end of your bars.
@ Biscuit i think your midrange it up to high, and also the reverb is getting in the way of stuff, maybe. Also, sub? is there one, I hear low end but not a lot of sub. Also the kick could be biger imo. I am really enjoying the melodic elements though. I like the way you move the synths around and how stuff switches up. I think the first verse is stronger than the others, as it has a lot of call and response elements, I think the other verses would benfit from that as well. Maybe not put reverb on all the snares and just some of them. I like the pace a lot though. Also it great how the main synth switches up a lot, keeping it interesting.
@ lloydy
Theres a lot fuzziness in your different sounds, I think it gets distracting when theres too much of it going on. That heavily flanged white noise seems too overpowering. Good programming though, Im enjoying the synths. I like how the drums are switching up a lot. Its cool how the whole peice is constantly moving. I like that
@LukeRaith
I think that midrange synth needs a break before it comes in the second time. Like either it should fade out completely before it comes back in, or a slightly different synth could be used. An instead of repeating the verse again I would like to see it switched up, like a different melody, at least a variation, because it gets repetitive. I really like how calm the whole song is, due to those plunky paddy echoey sounds. Those make it interesting. I just think it should switch up more.
@MrAural
sub is too high when it comes in. Theres definitely a lot of empty space that I think could be filled with pads or FX. I feel like its hard to say much since it appears it hasn't been developed that much. I think you should spend some more time with it, specifically with melody and background
Soundcloud
So the mix was bad before, I attempted to clean it up. It's cleaner, but I want to know if you think its clean. How are the levels? Does it need more elements and if so what? What are your thoughts? It's for a remix comp btw. THanks

the other drug: sick fucken vibes man, lovin the samples... track is pretty progressive, not really sure if you're going for that kind of thing... i actually think a little less variation might do wonders...
biscuit: intro takes a little long, haha... and as much as i love that delay/reverbed snare, i think you should use it sparingly. track seems like its gasping for air, let er breath... def headed in the right direction though, keep at this one!
lukeraith: sick atmosphere, really nice melody... kinda dissapointed at the drop though... i think some more gentle, deeper sounds could take place of that alarming synth you have driving the track. just saying that melody is so calming in the beginning, i think you should run with it all the way through the tune
anyways, i don't know shit really
here's one i put together today, open to all feedback/comments!

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
thank you to MaZa1, Biscuit, blake dipp, lloydy, LukeRaith, MrAural, and brisk is good for you.. for the kick ass feedback.
@maza1 - sounding good man, i like the second half with the vocal edit. the whole feel an groove of that part im dign alot. just layer this thing up an see where it takes you.
@biscuit - man this intro is very reminiscent of a tool interlude. drop is cool as fuck to. the pulsing bass seems kinda to heavily verbed something seems to be mudding up here. the second section, where the groove changes sounds alot tighter on the mix. im really diggn the atomosphere in this. plenty of space. that clap also seems a bit to heavily verbed try gating it to cut that tail a little shorter on the release so it still has that spacial quility just tails off smoother in the mix. or automate it to have different release settings give a progressing ambiences to your claps. the end section is also pretty damn cool. keep up the good work man.
@blakedip - solid kick an snare in this. that stepped bassline sounds pretty good to. overall layout is there. just needs a few melodic layers or fx an incidentals an whatnot. very decent start.
@llody - intro builds nice, not sure about those shuffled kicks just before the drop. but it works for sure. drop is really fat. only thing is i think your drums sound a bit to natural for this overall sounds going on. they work, just that snare seems a bit deep, needs that crisp top end. tons of variation in this. synth work is good, i'd try grouping some of those basses in the mixer, an automating some filters to give it more of a reesy texture here an there. keep it up man.
@lukeraith - damn man, props on this one. mixdown is very good. i love the build, its just so smooth. the drop is fat. and sounds very good all together. i'd just clone that synth patch an tweak to things to tonally shift, an change the speed of this wob. song sounds fine as is for sure though. props on the build man.
@MrAural - add you some atmosphere in this, an group those basses together an start tryn to beef them up a bit. not sure how deep your in yet, but this is a good start if your just starting.
@briskisgoodforu - a very funk track. i like the kinda vinyl type tonal characteristic of this. i can't say anything negative about it, other than master this, an make it louder! lots of energy in this. not my normal style but i can dig it!
if any of you guys want to collab or whatnot, followme on soundcloud.
