I only really "got it" when it got dropped on the OBF soundsystem. very weighty, yet still so subtle, full of energy.
a bit of a bitch to mix though.

Definitely, mixes well with all those later 135ish garage bits.
New mix from me:

listened to the snippets a couple of times now and I think I would've preferred nearly all of the songs without the vocal samples. most of them are incredibly annyoing and don't add anything to the sonic palette; they just sound so random, without purpose or effect.
all imho.

your opinion sir of course, but if i said that they did have purpose, would you look at them differently? "they had to go back... to go forward?" or "... FWD>>"?

to me, it feels like they lack puprose in a musical sense. it's not
what they say. I have no quarrel with their message. but to include them in the first place seems a bit weird to me, since the tunes (well, the 1min previews I've heard) sound tight and balanced in every single "register"; there is something going on in the mids, the bass is rumbling, there are leading synths etc. with a lot of Wen's productions, the chopped vocals serve as a driving and energising element, often arranged in a call-and-response style with his grimey stabs.
here though, the vocals just float about without any purpose besides delivering an oppinion in a way that seems rather aggressive to me. I don't need these messages shoved down my throat, and if the producer still insists, arrange them in a musically purposeful; see Kode9 or Shackleton who made space for their MCs and let them lead the track.
I can't rid myself of the impression the vocals were added last. just feel a bit random to me.
^ hope this stuff is somewhat intelligible.
will you send me WAVs of the tunes without vocals if I send you an image of myself and the EP?

i'm afraid they weren't. 5 of the tunes (back 2 go fwd x2, timeless, peng one two and epic jam) were all made in the same project/from the same file - so the vocals have been in all the tracks from the start. but it's cool - that's your take, s'all good.
