Thanks man!! I'll be sure to repost when I get the vocals laid down :W:
legend4ry wrote:@ Whyrez Nice pads - Feel like that kick could have some more punch to it! Feeling the synth what comes in at :29 - the melody is nice - though could do with some subtle delay on it or something, its a bit dry! The drum beat is a bit repetitive - could do with some bit of varation. The floaty synth is nice too - Its a track - I just don't like the drums (the sound of them nor the groove!)
Good call mate, I was thinking the same about the kick in all honesty, I'm sure there was a reason I was keeping it soft when I made it, I usually don't fuck with weak drums... But I can't remember it now, so I'm not too sure it was the best producer choice whatever it was -q-

I don't really put excessive delays on instruments on tracks that are made for vocalists, I don't want to potentially effect the clarity of the vocal range before having the vocal on there, so if I was to add some delays to melodies it would have to be done once the vocals were in place, these elements are going to be less frontal once the vocal is grabbing the attention anyway :)

Hhmm, the beat does have a lot of subtle alteration going on throughout it, for this track the beat is only there to mark the rhythm anyway, I'm not to sure I want to give everything minute detail and special obvious changes you know? Once a vocal is in there, that is where I'll want to centre the attention. Everything else will just work around it, not demanding attention with their 'listen to me I'm changing, over here :t:' lol, that would just distract people from the lyrics!

Thanks for the feedback dude, I've probably already given feedback on yours as I'm following you but I'll double check anyway :D:

cant help but think the drums could be a little more full or snappy. like the rhodes, and the main pads are nice. not really my thing much (bit too garagey for my tastes) but seems well done enough.
Thanks a lot for the feedback dude, I will see to it that it's returned! :h:

A new one with a mix of digital and analog synths, outboard processing, mixed ITB.
It's 90bpm with dub step, IDM, and glitch influences, intricately programmed and automated synth lines, growling bass, and tweaky, glitched up arrangement. -t-

Let me know what you think....

My first dubstep track
Piano sounds good at the beginning. I am not a big fan of that wobbly massive bass sound as it's a bit overused.

Arrangement is nice and spatious and I like the drum programming, but I would vary the timbre of the clap/snare for some variation.

It also feels like a breakdown or intro of a track and could use some more layers and edits, IMO.
Overall I think it's a good start especially for your first dubstep track.

Okay this track has some potential i really like your drums yea the wobbles overused maybe have a more prominent noise in between your wobble sequences but overall really tight track so far!

Was going to say they both sound unmastered to me, but the lab IS actually unmastered. Wobbles are to loud over everything else, Fun track but the basses could feel alot more at home in the mix.

Edit* talking about both tracks. The basses just sound foreign.

Cheers mate. I see a few others have said they are no overly keen with the sound of the drums. I've decided I'm going to try replacing them with a more organic sound. Ill send a 320 your way, so watch your inbox. :D:

I'd be interested to hear that.

@ Trainrek- (Jeffrey) Drums and bass punch pretty hard just not my thing. I've got to say with a lot of tracks in this styel the drop and the nice bit don't quite fit together. Though near the end one of the nice key sounds comes through. Sounds very compressed.

@ Vcore- (Gully) Things could maybe do with fattening up a bit. The drum fill sounds like the awful rnb ones coming back into fashion, sorry to say that. Structure doesn't really move me, solid drum sounds in general though.

@ Green Plan- (Julian Temple) Really like the vibe in the intro but the synth before the drop just feels a bit weaker than everything else. Really like the vox/drums/bass when it kicks in, just the synthwork again could do with some work. Definitely dig those vocals.

@ Johnst- vibe definitely there, sounds are great but I can't get into those drums. I feel people are worried to do something different with a drum and bass beat. It all sounds cohesive, quite gritty, just the rhythm I'm not feeling.

@ Peggy- ditto Lordbid's comments to be honest, nothing to add.

@ Lordbid- I like the idea, pretty dark but it's a bit muddy. I like the breaks and I'm not usually a fan of them. could do with some more variety throughout though.

@ Impey- yes! Maybe that synth needs a bit more room but could listen to that percussion/sub bounce off eachother all day. Another (counter)melody could do a lot for this track, definitely smooth maybe a bit too much of one idea though. That's me looking for something to criticise though.

Second track is sound too. Possibly hold back on the tabla part for a while when it drops but that's just an idea.

@ 3za- can't get my head around it if I'm honest. Seems to be lots of ideas all going in different directions.

@ Whyrez- the drums are cool, I like the rhythm but a change somewhere in the track might do a lot for it. Most of it sounds very organic (and a good thing) but some of the pad work seems too synthetic in contrast. Would that work with vocals? Love that 1/8th hook part.

@ Pain- firstly quite a big lol at using the phrase ambient-step, thanks (I think) for the feedback though. Cinematic is what I wanted to hear.

There's definitely a good idea behind this track but the bass sound isn't quite right. The intro and orchestral sounding instruments are cool, synths need some work.

@ Legendary- beat is really sound, but that whistly glissando thing? Subjective I guess, just sounds out of place to me. Could be the base of a good track.

@ Gravity- Thanks, dunno about the arrangement but yeah I keep being told I write 'comedown' tracks. I dig your stuff, I can't bear to be any more sycophantic than that. :4:

@ Blanx- too industrial sounding for me. A lot of nice processing going on in there but not my kind of track.

@ Ogunslinger- same again to be honest. No offence there's some cool production in there but not my bag.

Here's this, been in the WIP post for a few days but honestly I'm pretty much done, Been planning to use it as a set/concept EP intro.
The bass for the entire track was all made in a single instrument channel with no resampling or automation.
Been thinking about continuing in this direction for a while with other tracks but we'll see.

Kes-Es- extremely awesome synth! sounds like a wet rubber band being twiddled around. super rythmic and cool. but the song seems a little anti climactic. kick could maybe use more umph. but thats all personal prefernce really. overall this shit is groovey as fuck!

Grace- nice track man, sounds clean as fuck.
