oh and im working on a quick coffeebreak roguelike copy pasted from game dev thread on another board

So I just started development on a roguelike called Shanghaied
gonna be a coffeebreak style based on stealth, fov, and non combat
based on the concept of shanghaiing/conscription and waking up in a cell in a tunnel system under a city and having to escape
sound interesting at all?

oh C++ SDL for dev minded who care
plan on having ASCII and real graphics from tiled to isometric implementation
already have the dungeon gen pretty much 90% solid with a config file for those who wanna tweak

Didn't even know about the dayz mod until you just mentioned it, think i found the next game im playing after i finish The Witcher.

Wish i knew more about coding, i bought a book on programming not to long ago but am yet to dive in to it.

coding is a pain, ive been doing it self taught since i was around 12
the witcher based on some great novels, if you like the games i'd recommend reading them
the more they sell the more get translated, i think only like 3 of 5 bboks are in english atm
the witcher is god tier low fantasy

I actually have a little sister who is just starting her sophmore year at college. She wants to write the story lines to video games as well as design characters. She loves fantasy novels, her collection is tremendous. Might just ask her if she has a copy of it.

heh if you want to get involved honestly your local tabletop games will be the best place
D&D, Magic the Gathering, or Warhammer events
loads of game designers and programmers love tabletop games
