needs more energy, the stuff around the main synth sound dull next to it, maybe try varying the octaves of the main synth + focus on improving the drums. got potential definatly

Uncertainty
I really like this, it's got a real chilled vibe to it. I like what you've done with the vocals and i'm a big fan of the housey drums. I'm not too sure about your choice of snare - maybe a softer, more 'real' sounding snare would suit the tune more. Also one of the vocal slices in the intro is a little harsh (@0.41 and other places) - possibly could do with being turned down a little or maybe some more reverb. Other than those small criticism's it's a very well put together track, which I can't fault at all.

Fidget
once again this is a nice chilly song, the sliced up vocals work really well here. the kicks are a tad weak though and the piano chords are pretty loud, don't know if I've just got sensitive ears or what but yeah, maybe they could do with coming down a little in the mix. Otherwise good work dude!

well this is my offering. I'm not really feeling it at the moment but yeah any feedback would be great...
Soundcloud
thought there wasnt enough going on in this, although all the textures + themes work well together. just needs to be more adventurous and confident.

dissent - The Midas Touch

Just went for this one cos the others were clips

props:

+ Sweet percussion @ 00:22 - nice nod to Burial without being too much of a rip
+ Tension @ 1:02 - 1:19: particularly like that timpani roll or wotever it is
+ 1:30! perfect timing
+ I love to hear dnb +dstep fused, nice to hear it from a Brighton angle
+ 2nd drop brought the dstep flavour closer to the front again
+ Like how u sustained the chords + hi-end melody throughout
+ drop @6mins is special. That'd Kick Things Off!! u played it out yet?

advice:

10mins?? boy, i thought i was being cheeky with 05:29. Fair enough there's a lot of variety comes in around 5mins, and the 6mins drop is perfect. Only thing i'd say is, for such an epic duration you could have given us more variety with that dstep bass.
Tbh, it could end @ 08:14 without losing too much, and 8mins is still Kingsize :)

overall:

wicked track mate, professional sound and full flava. Made me feel like i was down in Brighton at 3am with no train ticket home. Why don't u post some more full trax up here (soundcloud'd be nice)

WakeUPGoDOWN - Dom, Lomp & Famous Remix

props:

+ like that 00:48 drop
+ VERY original choice of sample! don't get much Dutch hiphop on this thread...
Whole thing's got an original sound to it. Thnx for bringin somethin different
+ Good timing. I don't know the original(s?) so i can't really comment on the sounds, but i like the arrangement
+ slowing things down then speeding up @02:50ish was a nice touch
lazers video reminded me of the good ole days lol

advice:

- the whole 4mins thing was a bit too much for me, but fair enough no need to be shy around here get as dutty as u like
- u could fix the ending easy enough? Either bring the lead back or don't, but the fade out right there didn't sound correct to me
- i dunno mate, i'm listenin on cr*p speakers, and this is coming out of youtube, so i got sonic mess over this end. Youtube is notoriously difficult for gettin a good sound across. There's a Production Forum thread on the whole thing somewhere around here, might be of some use, but do try Soundcloud in the meantime. It gets overloaded sometimes but the quality is generally ok
- if you're just startin out, hit the other Production threads, you'll find everythin u need

overall:

loud european sound, the lead & the lazers took me back to happy daze, and the arrangement worked well. Original vox gave it a good hard edge.

Worker Ant - Fornication Consciousness

props:

+ like continuum said, got a good experimental vibe. music don't sit still so props to all the innovators :t:
+ yeah the intro is darrrrrk
+ liked the percussion, it worked for me

advice:
- i'm listenin on hifi speakers so i'm not sure about anything, but i think yer bass could do some work on it. up to u what "work" u do - it's the fun part
- props for keepin it short, but i think it's got room to grow in a new direction. It seems well-suited for a Drum Free Zone breakdown...
- like continuum said on the vox

overall:

shout for the hard work on the percussion, original flava 4sure. Nice1

continuumdnb - uncertainty

props:

+ lovely minimal, confident slo drumz, slo chords
+ how the vox go "ah" after all the "ee"s and "uh"s :)
+ yeah really feelin the progression on the vox buildin up to 2mins
+ 3mins. That's a good groove. original drop and quite a surprisin rhythm. Yer man said "housey" - yeah i spose, don't know much about house, but that sounded sweet

advice:
- breakdown @4mins. This is a problem i have too, how to get the balance between variety and consistency in the arrangement. i think u could cut 6 bars out of that break, so it doesn't upset the flo too much. If people have just started dancin they don't want to stop too much a minute later, IMHO
- really cool vox, and i like the work u done on them, only thing is (and its a personal thing) not into playing notes up and down on the sampler like that, it's all a bit too 80s for me. But All the other games u played with the sample were nice, and the flo startin with simle gettin more complex, kind of what i was gettin at with my track too.

overall:
didn't mean to write more "advice" than "props" there - i really like the trak, female "oo"s and "ah"s do it for me every time (!) Good work

continuumdnb - Fidget Chilled VIP

props:

+ more female oos + ahs. love it. think i prefer these ones too.
+ nice simple chords
+ interestin choice, workin on the piano like that. wouldn't have gone for it myself but it works. "housey" again i spose, but in a nice retro way. Sweet chord pattern too
+ nice arrangement. by the end, i felt like it'd taken me to just the right place at just the right pace. respect for that

advice:

- disclaimer on this, cos of my monitor situation, but i think u need to EQ the kik. Try a big notch @87hz, and (if u didn't already) layer some oldskool Roland kik beneath it - plenty been said bout all that elsewhere around here tho
- infact, listenin to that likkle outro there, i think u got some work to do on the snare aswell

overall:

Yeah that one was beautiful, i like your confident laid-back style. Not too pushy. Lovely Sunday music, thanx 4that

ok can someone tell me how to embed?

This is the first tune iv managed to finish (I usually spend weeks just fannying around on intros at little tweaks) Feed back would be great as I'm never happy with what iv made  Some nice sounding tracks on this post BIG UP! :D

I like the drums dude, really hectic! tbh, the grinding bass did get slightly monotonous - yet the overall feel of the track was quite solid. I like it :)

With an intro so chilled and tension building (because of it's 'chilly/spooky' vintage kids toy sound and relaxed horror movie style sub ambience) you could really exploit some contrast from the drop. Heavy drums, a more fixed rhythm and maybe an attention grabbing 'scary' lead come to mind

The feeling of the track is wicked, I was really into it throughout the entire intro, but must admit I was very let down from the drop.
I totally agree; the intro and the drop should probably be in separate songs I recon, how ever as separate entities, they both work very well. A more feel enhanced drop is called for I believe.

yeah sick, vocals defiantly make the tune, the other elements are a tiny bit simple and lacking in the same creativity as the vocals, in that they dont set the mood as vividly as the vocals do. but good work

I'm really, really impressed with the level of work on this board. I just joined and listened to a bunch of tracks and posted a lot of soundcloud comments. anyway, to start off here's my own recent track, based on an early 18th century christian choir composition. looking forward to feedback!
