Healthcare in the USA

There is also a difference between something being government regulated and approved and something being government provided. When I lived back in Missouri the roads were pure shit, plain and simple. The DMV is not efficient, the post office isn't all too great either, nor are public schools for the amount of actual substance they teach (great social learning experience though). Also in America our government seems to have this problem with actually putting the money where they say they are putting it.

One problem with the healthcare bill is the length of it. These bills are like over a thousand pages long, and all in lawyer speak. Nobody even understands half of it, and sometimes these senators and whatnot don't even know what they are voting for. Not to mention that most bills that run through congress have little "pet projects" thrown in by the writers, democrat and republican, that have nothing to do with the actual bill itself. This bill has fucking abortion issues in it. (which has nothing to do with healtcare!!!!) keep that shit out of the bill. The government needs to shorten their bills to focus on ONLY the issues at hand, not putting in their fucking pet projects, but they keep these bills so rediculously long that nobody even fucking reads the majority of it. It would take a team of lawyers 5 days to read, and they never have the time because it goes right to congress, so it is pretty much impossible for them to have read the damn things. It's all bullshit.

I personally believe the system needs fixed, but I'm not so sure that this is the right way of going about it. There are so many issues with this bill that they are not taking into account.

I'm gonna go start my own country on an island on the Susquehanna River now.

Didn't they tack on some 800 pages at the last minute? I also read about the abortion thing which is stupid. That should not be a basic function of healthcare because some people don't support it and as such their money should not be going to fund it. I agree, I think there are a lot of people in general just saying "Ah, hell it's a healthcare bill good for us!" and they neglect to read all the other shit that gets snuck in there.

I love how saving lives will destroy America, but to be against murdering others or having guns is unpatriotic.

Last time I checked murder is still frowned upon in America and there aren't a whole lot of people still left that are in favor of the war. Also, I quite like guns and don't see any logical reason to get rid of them. The second amendment exists for a reason.

I think it would be nice if more European people could do a 5 year stint living in America so they have a better idea of what they are talking about before they go blabbering on about "fat, stupid americunts and their politics" on the internet, shit gets tiresome to read.

I don't have any problem with poorer people having healthcare. The shit should be affordable for anyone to have but I don't think you need to have government provided healthcare to have affordable healthcare. We should remove the exclusion of people with pre-existing conditions etc. from current standards and just make private healthcare work, is that so impossible?

can you outline how, in practical terms, you'd make it work then?

No because I won't attempt to sound smarter than I am, but conversely can you outline in practical terms why it could never work?

I think if people wanted to put a little more time and effort into lining something out then it could work. However, with people being the impatient fucks they are these days they just trust Obama and his buddies to whip something up over night that isn't written well and is far too lengthy to be honest.
