I'll start with Tomasz Stańko Quartet - Tale. This is amazing, trust me.

If you like fusion jazz, return to forever is eeeppiicc. And within that group is one of the greatest bassists of all time, Stanley Clarke, and one of the best alto sax players, chick Korea. Their solo stuff is unbelievable as well.
Yusef Lateef is a badman, besides playing tenor sax and the flute, he also uses loads of other odd instruments from the basoon to the oboe.

Anyone mentioned Thelonius Monk yet?
I can listen to his music all day long without getting bored of it.
Goten Project have done some brilliant covers of his music including a personal fave of mine - Round About Midnight. Their arrangement is sublime.

Re: The Jazz Thread.
Don't know much Jazz, still a genre i'm slowly chipping away at (or maybe its chipping away at me)
Can sit in awe of a great jazz performance but guess i've yet to really discover what artists I like and what styles really float my boat.
First and only jazz gig i've been to was Jan Garbarek earlier in the year and I was blown away. The man knows how to play the sax! Also featured this nutter on percussion...
