not at all true. i didnt "get it" the first couple times i listened to it, thought it was nothing special.bass hertz wrote:if Burial doesn't take your breath way within 0.5 seconds of any track, then you'll never get it. at least that's the way I see it. no offense man.Evil Madmen wrote:Someone needs to explain whats so great about burial, Ive listened to his stuff on several occasions and its just too clicky for me to care about anything else.
then i listened to it late at night with my Grado's. instant love. like a switch was flipped.

Pretty much the same for me. I bought his first album based on hype and thought it was boring as fuck (being of the vex'd generation).spire wrote:not at all true. i didnt "get it" the first couple times i listened to it, thought it was nothing special.bass hertz wrote:if Burial doesn't take your breath way within 0.5 seconds of any track, then you'll never get it. at least that's the way I see it. no offense man.Evil Madmen wrote:Someone needs to explain whats so great about burial, Ive listened to his stuff on several occasions and its just too clicky for me to care about anything else.

It first clicked for me when I was on my way back from college a few years ago, sitting on a bus on my own, in the rain, in the middle of fucking nowhere, on a fun 40 minute journey at 6pm in winter. Had my mp3 player on shuffle and wounder came on. I insta-jizzed and fell in love.
Re: Favourite Burial Tune?
Archangel & Unite. Broken Home and Distant lights get played up here quite a bit too.
Hadn't ever heard Moth before - cheers for the info.

I had the Vex'd album already (I still love it) but the first time I heard 'Distant Lights' I cried myself blind and wanked myself invisible.pikeymobile wrote: Pretty much the same for me. I bought his first album based on hype and thought it was boring as fuck (being of the vex'd generation).

Re: Favourite Burial Tune?
The track that got me into Burial was Distant Lights, but I think my favorite tune is either Night Train or Raver. But it's very hard to choose. Apart from some of the stuff on Untrue, with the "cheesy" vocals, I think most of his tracks are pretty top notch.
Oh, and the collab with Four Tet is simply breathtaking. Best pieces of music I've heard in a long while. Hope they do more stuff together.

Hmm, after giving it a lot of thought, I'd like to add "Homeless" to my answer.
Not only because it's fucking amazing, but also because of the way he re-contextualized the "Don't you know that I sit around with my head hanging down?" from "Who's Loving You?" by the Jackson 5.
The fact that he heard that shit and saw that it could become something like "Homeless" is just...like I don't even know what to say about, he can't be human. ,: |

Either 'Endorphin', well i just wish it was longer yet not sure if that would take from it's effect. Powerful track!or 'Near Dark' or 'You Hurt Me'. Moth is just fucking incredible if i can include that.
Agreed. I really like this one too.
A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be.

Dark angel, fall from the heavens above, send me an angel to heal my heart from being in love... After all of the love for you, in my life, but it wasn’t good enough for you, I can’t take no more tears from my eyes.... But it wasn’t good enough for you, I can't take no more hurt from that time....

Re: Favourite Burial Tune?
really really really really really hard to pick a favorite.
Homeless is next level sadness expressed thru music
Archangel is still right up there too . i have to agree about not quite getting Burial's tunes at first. it took Archangel getting dropped late night at dubwar, dark lonely dancefloor business , eyes down. really hit me hard
a friend of mine really put it well, he said something like "you hear it , and you just instantly think of the person you want to be with , and you get transported to this place, its just pure sex, and sadness, and Archangel is playing, and you're just there"
