the only part i'll agree with is the the bit about race and 1xtra. other than that, he's acting like he's the first guy to call everything "hip hop". just about every other hip hop journalist will say the same thing. that all post disco music is basically a derivative form of hip hop. its all just opinions, but i'm cringing when north americans think they can just swallow the claim for the planet's music. thats just embarrassing.

Also even if grime arists grew up on US hip-hop..that doesn't mean that the US invented it.

Crunk Tesla is an attention seeking moron.

crunk is shit, its like soulja boy and lil jon n stuff, i would hope tht most rappers that i grew up listening to would try as hard as possible to distance themselves from that awful shit, i know tht all th dubstep i listen to deffinately doesnt sound like that waste music. The only thing he got right was that everyone rinsed hiphop from a young age so im sure that hiphop influenced dubstep in some way or another, lil jon 100% diddnt.

I have seen this thread at least 3 times on here. Pretty simple, dubstep has imfluences from Hip Hop, Hardcore, House, Garage, DNB, Dub, etc, etc, that is why it is it's own genre. I remember some douche trying to tell me that jungle was influenced by dj's speeding regular tunes up to 45 rpm and playing street drums along with it or something lol. Sounds nice but it isn't even close to the truth. Guy claims he doesn't listen to much UK music or follow it so that in itself disqualifies all of the statements he made.

Most US heads don't believe crap like this so don't go throwing this in our general directions because it is unfair.

Although Innerzone Orchestra's "Bug in the Bassbin" did used to get played at the wrong speed back in the day...

Certainly not to the degree that techno people seem to credit it with mind you... If you read some techno blogs you would think there'd have been no Jungle at all without Carl Craig, which of course is rubbish

Yeah and actually I didn't mean to say he told me it was influenced by that but STARTED with that. Clearly breakbeat hardcore had something to do with it.

Around 50,000 years ago, early modern humans began to disperse from Africa, reaching all the habitable continents. Since all people of the world, including the most isolated tribal groups, have a form of music, scientists conclude that music must have been present in the ancestral population prior to the dispersal of humans around the world.
Consequently music must have been in existence for at least 50,000 years and the first music must have been invented in Africa and then evolved to become a fundamental constituent of human life.

Dubstep grime and garage are for everyone race dosent matter. This guy can fuck himself. British music rules, American music sucks thats my philosophy.
From america and i agree with most of this, but there are a few hidden gems round ere you need watch out for. But yes US hip hop has been very racist and when its not it comes out sounding like Asher Roth(wanker). But watch out for the Dirty South Dub movement. Gonna change minds for sure. British Beats Rule! Southern American Rappers own!
