bigup on this thread spacer, i couldn't agree more. the key imo is just to dismiss producers that obviously continue to produce only one sound that's not original regardless of what that sound is and look for the people that are innovating. no one has a right to define what the sound of the genre is or should be, but DJs do have the right to push the sound they feel which may or may not be bro-oriented. agree 100% also with joe muggs, the big commercial rave kru will always go for the simplest sound that's danceable which is bang your head shit.

you guys (blackheart) have put out some big tunes recently, tops production coming also from brackles, shortstuff, pearson sound/ramadanman, the antisocial crew (esp quest/silkie), widdler, starkey, ID, octapush, dutty artz (dj /rupture & shadetek), djg, headhunter, gemmy, guido, hyetal, peverelist, untold, cooly g, and SERIOUS gems all over that new hyperdub comp. the goods are still there, you just gotta wade past the bros.

support on this from the man like blackdown also while interviewing desto:

we've been throwing parties for about 18 months here in Belgrade. We had The Bug, Tes La Rok, Cotti, Shackleton and it was a hard grind. We lost money on every single gig. Last weekend some other guys brought Chef and it was interesting, a lot of people were there who would never come a year before, and it was in a venue that would never have taken dubstep a year before. it's a sign that it achieved social acceptance. The final set was totally brostep and was the most popular. lot of the dubstep longtimers (for here) hated on the fact that hipsters and mainstreamers were now into the sound, but i guess as others say you have to find a way to use it not abuse it. E.g. do some gigs that don't lose money.

Really it seems to me you brostep has been pushing out the wobble and that isn't a bad think imo. In the meantime the deepbass techy funky type sound has been getting huge. So whats the problem? It isn't like chainsaws are the only option. And yeah this has been discussed at great length on here already so I call this a waste thread.

I read the full post. I wanted to know
dubout wrote: where is the name 'brostep' from?
which means: what is the translation? where and when was it coined? What is comedic about it?

It pops up in the threadtitle and everyone agrees on it? That would be the first time around here .. Plus I'm not a native speaker. 'Bro' could just mean everything. I'm interested in such things, so please be nice :)
Not being an English native speaker either I had to look it up too. This is a really good source:

Dubstep was built to be different to that. And now it's not.

it was always gonna happen...you can't change people..

most people that come in hmv ask for stuff like caspa not boxcutter or kode9....no disrespect to caspa as i like about 4 tunes by him but why should he be bigger than kode9?

also everyone buys the skream mix cds but few buy his album that still sounds great now in a non wobble sense...again i like the skream rinse cd so don't get me wrong..just saying the more accessible stuff takes over just like in d&b

I accept the reality that it has, but i don't accept the premise that it always was going to.

there were some very exciting times that's for sure....the stuff ruling the roost for ages was indeed the distinctive beautiful & honest music....it just outgrew those people unfortunately
