No plot, 2 hours of people yelling, and trying to justify the coolness of acid and pills. The only way I can see anyone enjoying it is to be fucked up while watching it. I was bored out of my mind when I saw it initially. Almost as bad as "Inland Empire" but not that bad. Let the flame comense.
Meh, some people just get it some don't. It does aid your understanding if you've done drugs though.

It's a great film but the book is far superior.

I have to say though, the people who think it's the best film ever are just like "omg, look how fucked they are, mental shit" etc etc

The best bit is easily the monologue about the wave, which was apparently Thompson's favourite piece of his own work.

I've done my share, though I can't say I've gone off into the deep realms that Hunter went through.

Only 1 of my non-drug taking friends enjoyed the film, but he's a big film buff and enjoys his intelligent humour business. The rest constantly ask "what's mescaline? is he having a bad trip? does cocaine make you hallucinate giant repitiles fucking?" etc etc

I've got nuff mates who think cocaine and acid are similar in effects due to being class A.

not always

I put forward The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Stand By Me, Apocalypse Now (the book and film are equally good, the film maybe edges it), High Fidelity, The Thing and Fight Club.

My first trip was in a fairly packed club, I thought it felt and looked a lot like parts of fear and loathing.
Thats probably lame

Aye, I do, yeah... doesn't mean I condone too many 'white boys smoking salvia and get waaaaasted - zomg!' stories though.

...and read the story before you post it, pal.
Excessive drinking paired with art has always been deeply entrenched in any city’s culture. Berlin’s best proof is the cinematographic document Berlin Drinking Battle by Rolf S. Wolkenstein and Wolfgang Hogekamp. The film was made in 1989, just one night before the fall of the Berlin wall. Obviously, they managed to somehow document their benders on video (even if that was before the era of digital cameras) rather than being sensationalized as binge drinkers in the tabloids. We wanted to know how they got this show on the road and met up with Rolf S. Wolkenstein to have a sober little chat about schnapps and the 80s film scene.
it's an interview with a film director, wank-head. (also, FYI - that was the LATEST story on Viceland, not the LEAD story  )

I think you're splitting hairs there. I do like Vice though when they do the fiction issues.

I watched it perhaps 4 years ago and didn't like it at all. I found it cheesy. I'll watch again though and see if it sits any differently.
