Yeah, have a 3 dvd cubase 4 tutorial thingie majig. Only on the first disc. Might be better to learn from a book, the old fashioned way. Cubase's internal help is pretty good too.

yea but steinberg tech support wise forum and phone sucks. the power manuals are great and kill the reg manuals far as for how quick it is to find shit and workarounds.
the dvds even included with power manuals i've found to be useless just because the hands on and reading sinks in more

the amount of time you've spent posting about the software you could have gotten balls deep in it

and just because one person on this forum has a strange workflow (sorry C&D) shouldn't discourage you from buying what is possibly the best software for your sound

there are no limits and no down sides to Cubase 5

is it destructive processing like audition?

hmm does it make a new file or just no processing?

because i actually want a destructive audio engine, ableton is so non-destructive that its refreshing to have the opposite

and multitracking in audition seems like a bitch...

When I resample shit/bounce a loop or something to audio it seems to go a little off beat... WTF is this it's driving me nuts?
More likely to happen when I'm using some kind of effects.

I just can't see that myself...fucking hate ableton for midi, love cubase for midi

To my newbie knowledge, it is very laborious to draw, move, size, delete, and slide off the grid midi notes. There are no contextual tooltips, have to keep going to the palet of tools just to do simple things.

Learn some keyboard shortcuts....the tool pallet is mapped along the number keys at top of you keyboard...get used to what tools are where and you'll be flying!

^ that sounds like plugin delay compensation.

Have you checked under Devices, Device Setup, then click in the VST Audio System tab, make sure adjust for Record Latency is checked.

And what the heck am I complaining about midi for, I'm in it for the audio anyway!

Haha well I posted that just to let him know the downside of the program, since that was the topic of the thread. It's still my favorite DAW and I recommend it. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from using it, but if he just wants to know the negative points of the program, I figured I should mention the only problem I have with it. But again, I recommend it over everything else...but it's more important to find something that suits your workflow than to buy what other people consider is the best.

I do this all the time in flstudio. Its a piece of piss. The automation clips are just like any other clip, or what cubase calls event. You can stack up 20 clips of automation, group them with the underlying audio or midi data, and move the whole chunk where ever u want. Kind of why I don't understand resampling (to a large extent), you can do it all at once, and maintain all the flexibility u need.
