I guess depending on your location you may be forced to play dubstep without sufficient subs. It may well be that or nothing. Obviously you are losing an enormous piece of what dubstep would seem to be about (ie sound system music). Judging by the enormous amount of music that describes itself as "dubstep" that doesn't have any real weight on the bottom end however a lot of peeps don't appear to be that bothered - and perhaps this is just a natural progression towards new types of music. Or something like that :)

i played for 5 hours in a bar/club last friday. UK Funky and Dubstep

the system wasn't great but even so i still had some bird come up to me and say "can you play some pussycat dolls or something? this is a bit bassy" :lol:

true myke! thats when you've gotta find the kitchen sockets or get a sparky to wire you into the ring main. the bar staff don't like it when the lights die and they lose power to their fridges lol.

rhys - so she requested pussycat dolls and you dropped next hype? good work :)

It is a good point about not having enough power but you can hook directly to the box, sound companies obviously want more money to do this. Promoters are always trying to get the lowest price possible tho. My solution has always been to find a really small venue. The shows I threw we halved the amount of speakers and it lets the amps wotk easier and the sound was amazing.

i think i was playing some Silkie tunes at the time, but yeah within half an hour id dropped Next Hype :P
it was the Dj Oddz mashup version too, extra rowdy
