yeslouissmusic wrote:so are you saying like if you go deep enough into the samples you can get pure waveforms nd use them tto create synths?Sinus Sawtooth wrote:Just called the datacenter where I host my server, and they confirmed they had some problems last night which resulted in time-outs and unreachable sites. Problem is solved now and samplepack should be reachable 24/7.HAACK wrote:Link is possibly out due to server reset on their site, the link is from their web page and I can't access it either way.
And what Vivace said, don't use the magixmusic maker technique, don't just "mix" the samples to a track, try to build synthesis with the samples, cut them, slice them, make them bleed,... with "Treasure Hunting" we took the basic forms from the samples, resulting in a sine, square and blockwave, throw some effects on them and you have your very own synthesis build from a sample, the possibilties are endless!
enjoy and goodluck!

^ which I've never understood really. If you can manage to find a sine saw and square wave cycle, what is the point of having a sample pack at all?

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK CONTEST 17
got it, and halfway done already....
Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK CONTEST 17
i agree. but also, this pack contains enough material to produce many albums even... no real limitations as a lot of the sounds are well decent and fit for purpose already. a challenge would be to make someting truly great based on something truly shite.nowaysj wrote:^ which I've never understood really. im not slagging off the initiative (i love a good mashup & recently submitted to another forum remix comp), but more challenge = more fun....

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK CONTEST 17
Because not everybody processes sound in the same way. Besides, if you don't understand how or why or when you should or could extract a waveform from a sample, then rejoice there is a samplepack! Is making sound from a basic waveform the only way to make a proper sound? No, far from it. But the technique does expand your possibilities by miles. If you can process a squarewave into a baby bunny devouring demon, imagine what you can do with a sampled Buchla Modular, which you can find in this samplepack.nowaysj wrote:^ which I've never understood really. ^ ha ha ha, haven't dl'ed, just heard it was very small. Once you have the basic waveforms, you can make any sound at all, is all I'm saying, baby bunnies and all.

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK CONTEST 17
this thizz true, but take me for example, i can get a sine wave out it and load it into my sampler, but i dont know how to make it sound some insane new sound. all i really know how to do with the exs24 is make a wobble. or leave the sample alone and just slap effects on it.
Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK CONTEST 17
Take that sine waveform load it into two operators of an fm synth that allows user waves, modulate the first operator with the second, u have insta filth at inharmonic ratios.
Put envelopes, lfo's, filters where you will.

you are allowed to take these waveforms and apply whatever you want to them, but no synthesis of any kind is allowed including:-
wavetable,
subtractive,
additive,
fm,
but
you are allowed to do what these synths do, (filters, pitching up and down with a sampler, probably can even use them as frequency modulators if you knew how) but you have to do this yourself without the aid of a synth
