Ha ha. DJ Rap is singing songs now. She's no longer an 'instrumental' producer and from what I recall was never particular talented. But honestly man you're having to hunt around to find some female producers. It is the way it is. I'm not fussed about it.

Promo wrote:Women just aren't into making electronic music period. The desire within them just doesn't exist and its that simple. They do however like to strum their guitars and yodel. Even women that venture into the electronic music sphere always end up yodelling over their music. I think its very rare for women to just say to themselves one day 'I want to get into some unique, interesting and obscure new music'. In short its not in their make up. And the majority of women who get into any form of electronic music do it usually because they've been heavily influenced by a man. They'll always be listeners at best and rarely promoters or producers. Girls like ballads, love songs and other stuff. They're yearning for the dream of being carried away by Prince Charming. Aggro bass heavy music doesn't have quite the same meaning to you or I as some pop ballad does to the opposite sex.

Same reaction here 947sw11!But I'm not  ing about it.Unless that includes laughing at peeps lke Promo here, though there's really nothing funny about pure ignorance.

@Promo:
I know a quite few women in punk and noise bands that would kick yer friggin' teeth in for saying that! Not to mention quite a few female DnB and Industrial/Power Noise producers,DJs,and musicians that can't stand pop/ballad type music and would do the same just for you saying that.

So,you want to talk science?

Fine.

Three scientific facts:

1.Women who listen to,write, play,or produce aggressive music are smarter. They know what they want and aren't sheep(which, from reading about your sexist views, you and the girls you are lucky enough to date,if ever, are!).They have more style, class, and intelligence than they get credit for(mainly because of wankers like you)!!

2.Women who listen to,write, play,or produce aggressive music are far superior lovers(but you'll never know...).

3.You need to grow the fuck up.Seriously.And maybe should even consider resigning from this forum. If you want to have an attitude such as that, join a Brittany/Paris/Jessica/Hillary/Ashlee/Avril forum.Who knows?Maybe for once in your life you might get a little over the bra action.[NOW I'm  ing!!!]

Large up to all the females on this board!!!![That last bit was especially for Misoh]

Boring and ridiculously sycophantic.

Seriously what the hell are you on about? Lol. Women don't make electronic music at all (read 'electronic music') and very few dj it also.

Don't turn this into some battle of the sexes bullshit. Go to any other forum and people will echo exactly what I've said so it is you who are in the minority. If it was any different I'd say so and quite happily.

I don't know; please enlighten me because you amongst others appear to be the first bunch of folks I've ever come across who think the world is populated with loads of female electronic producers/musicians. 'Think' being the operative word.

Anyways this is getting extremely boring and stupid beyond belief, so hold dear whatever rubbish you wish. Over and out.

which world are you living in? there are less female producers and djs than men but your absolute denial of their existence is beyond ridiculous. dont want to have to make lists here.

but you are right about one thing. this is stupid beyond belief. mostly by your own contribution.

Yeah make your silly little list and then follow it with a conclusive male list while you're about it. I think you'll be a while. Lol.

"Sycophantic",huh?Really? And how did you come to that half-assed conclusion?Nowhere in my response to your idiocy did I make any reference nor praise to myself. It is you, who's audacious claims of "the superiority of men over women in production & DJing",as well as your curt, belittling approach to everyone responding to this thread(which I'll remind you that you did not start),that has brought this subject to light. In every comment you make, you blatantly profess to have an insight that us mere mortals apparently will never fathom. No,sir,it is you who are the sycophant.Do you even know what the word means?I would assume if you did,you wouldn't have used it so sloppily out of context.

Now,you have every right to believe...er...whatever it is you believe. As do I.However, just because you choose not to see something doesn't mean it's not there. And the majority of the dubstep community obviously doesn't agree with you.Like I stated before, maybe you should join a forum more suited for close-minded individuals like yourself. You don't have to be here.According to your join date, you've only been on this forum a little longer than I have. That's enough time to figure out whether you like it or not. That's even enough time to realise that women promoters, producers, and DJs not only come here, but they even post sometimes too!!I've never even seen you post until yesterday. And nothing short of scathing, uneducated points of view,at least in this thread,as well as boasting about how deep you are into the male dominated music business.Even insulting a mod.*tsk tsk*It sounds to me like you are a lurker, justing looking to fuel a flame war. That is also your right, but honestly...could you do it somewhere else?

Dubstep(the forum, the community, and the scene) is too kick back to deal with drama.Yet you feed on it.Move on.Seriously.Get over it.Get over your gender-obsessed self...

Speaking of which, you obviously fancy the thought of men sticking thier penises in various orifices.Hmmm...that,coupled with your penchant for male domination? And you have made an in-your-face point about how much you like women so very, very much....It sounds like you have other issues you should deal with before you go around making accusations about who's stickin' who's sausage where.

Sounds like closeted batty boy talk to me.Maybe you should go look into that. :D:

Suppose that this is a bad time to point out that sycophancy actually means a crawler, or a submissive flatterer. Examples can be found in the multi-page epics based around Skream's every offering on this forum :D

I must admit through all of this that I'm trying to think of more than a handful of female dance producers and I'm having some difficulty. Plenty of talented dj's and vocalists, but really can't think of many producers. I'd actually agree with the DJ Rap thing - apart from Spiritual Aura, I can't really say I rate her tunes, and she is very attractive, so I can see that it might give reasoning to some of Promo's argument. Got an album of hers from the 90's and I don't think she even produced the majority of it (think Grooverider does the same before anyone kicks off).

There are a hell of a lot of artists that would be ignored if they didn't have some visual appeal and a pretty face does cover up a lack of talent and mediocre music, but that's not something that only applies to female artists by a long shot.

Think that maybe there's just something overwhelmingly geeky about a lot of production that women aren't particularly drawn to. Can't see why they shouldn't be good if they set their minds to it but I get the feeling that chatting about eq's and valve compression is probably as interesting as chatting about engines to most ladies. How many women producers are there in ANY field of music, let alone dance? In a local music course, apart from a female dj I know, NONE of the girls are interested in production, mostly into MC'ing, singing and playing instruments.
Hmm....

hehe, I'm only laughing at what would happen if he tried to say it to certain women in the game, that's all ;) there's nothing funny about his original post.

what other ignorant and lazy statement is he going to write next? That white people can't make groundbreaking "urban" music? ffs, I can't believe I'm even replying to his trolling.

@ Promo

The farce of this discussion for me lies not so much in the patently incorrect absolutes you're is using (that there are NO women involved in electronic music), but in the seeming absolute confidence you have in your explanation of why this might be! That’s where the real discussion lies imo, because its true, in electronic music, there are generally more men involved than women, and it might be interesting to think about why that might be (although now that you’ve inflamed the debate with such aggravating and unfounded claims there seems little chance of that).

Its incredibly funny that you’ve voiced this on a dubstep forum when Ammunition is run by a female, Mary Anne Hobbes is the lead media proponent of the sound, the most exciting new dubstep night in London is run by a female, a major Bristol promoter is female, the person almost solely responsible for visually documenting the scene is female. To claim to explain, in one sweeping, half-baked paragraph, exactly what is going on in those individuals’ minds to motivate them into doing what they do is beyond belief really.

Perhaps he does have a point.

Women are less likely to be involved in electronic music because they're less likely to be sitting at home in a darkened room in front of their computer for months on end with their mouse in one hand and their dick in the other, a bit like Promo.

They're out doing stuff. With other people. Probably relating to shoes and bags.

That was a joke by the way. I only say this cause I'm sure Promo's wanked his sense of humour away years ago.

This is pure fucking stupid, if that original post was just spam for a half baked, self-concerned article [mate it reads like a diary entry] next time just link to it. I can see one sentence in the piece of relevance to this thread. If people aren't commenting its probably because you didn't inspire them to do so.
