Lets just let "The Cock" wank over his own words and rub the paper in his mum's face...Ok, maybe not his mum's but whoever agrees with EVERYTHING he has said!!
Guardian Article - Completely misses the point
At the end of the day, I know it aint shit, you know it aint...we all know it aint!! "The Cock" has obviously not experienced dubstep the way he should have, the way we all have!

personally this article just comes across as really poor journalism
although having said that, i very much doubt writing good journalism was at the forefront of his mind when writing this piece...this guy obviously has his own agenda in mind
and all his silly comments about dubstep becoming homogenized are pretty unfounded and sound like he's just deliberately trying to be provocative to sevre his own means...

i just found out hes one of the people at big dada
big dada = label that aims at and appeals mainly to people who liked trip hop, dont like hip hop apart from their acts really cos they would find it too scary
most big dada releases sound like theyve been produced according to lightweight ninja tune rules and regulations
hahahahahaha

what are you on about?? BD is just the hiphop offshoot from Ninja, but usually with a leftfield slant. Some of the releases by New Flesh, TTC, Infesticons etc are more challenging than a lot of hiphop.titchyschneider wrote:hahaha

As for lightweight production, i just don't know where you get your ideas from. Nothing you've written in this thread has made sense to me yet, just a lot of baseless conjecture and unfounded 'statements'.
They did. Letting this guy write this article would be like letting someone from Metro write an article arguing that London doesn't need any more free newspapers. He's just upset that dubstep has stolen "his" scene's thunder.poax wrote:didnt they just sign an album deal with wiley?
Incidentally, while we're talking about thunder ... many thanks for coming over to Berlin a couple of weeks back, Poax. It was a devastatingly good night. Non-stop skankage
thanks bruv....

ill say that when someone says they prefer milanese, bass clef or some IDM-ish version of dubstep to 'real' dubstep
a lot of big dada stuff does sound lightweight - compare lotek hifi to some proper dub rhythm tracks or new flesh to real dancehall or grime
i wonder if big dada will make sure wileys album has nothing that sounds like dubstep

Firstly, it is poor journalism, people (particularly those writing for national press!) should never be excused for inaccuracies and lazy writing about music. Secondly, since he has some knowledge of the scene, shouldn't he of all writers understand that it is a DJ-led culture, not about albums etc - wouldn't it be better for someone in his position to put those points across, rather than temporarily adopting the perspective of the Guardian reading public? Lastly, in a time when there are so many interesting, intelligent writers around and little well paid work, it makes me sad to see that when someone does have the opportunity to write about new musical developments they use it to further their own agenda.elgato wrote:whats the crack with editorial control then?mos dan wrote:you know you get paid £75 for a blog post like that on guardian unlimited as well.
um, actually i'm not sure that the guardian blogs are paid. but then why write a confused piece that misinterprets dubstep and clearly hasn't heard Memories of the Future? Oh yes, of course, silly me...
dubstep makes me happy

I dont understand why anyone that has signed a grime artists and promotes a grime night would be so disrespectful of a music genre with such crossover potential. As far as albums are concerned what about various production and boxcutter, not necesarily completely dubstep but still great artist albums.
The various prodcution album has tracks that have been used by both dubstep and grime dj's and mc's, didnt wiley do a thing over the top of "hater" jme over "tapped" whys this guy putting dirt on a scene so close to home.
