been trying to think about this last couple days, listened to nuff dad rock in the past, sure i've forgotten loads of favourites but the ones coming to mind,

hendrix, gotta be, dude had style and melody in his playing
clapton, complete bellend i know and not the most impressive you ever heard, but his overall like tone and playing is just perfect, i've spent a lot of time trying to learn the solo from crossroads and its one of my favourites ever
tony iommi, just hard sound, not the best by a long way but just made the blues sound as dirty as could be, his guitar just sounds sick every time and he can write a riff

i've never liked page, he's undoubtedly tremendously talented and technical, but his live soloing sounds like some shite doodling and he just goes on a bit imo, really don't like his successors that got bare into noodling like van halen etc

honourable mention to buddy guy, look up the video of him playing it with junior wells raaaah

I've never heard all this negative stuff about eric clapton tbh

but the bit about clapton is more about his ideas and the implementation of specific gear and stuff like that imo... he taught jimi about the wahwah and then jimi taught miles

so in a way clapton is responsible for bitches brew and gets to go in the cool book

Greg howe is a wicked jazz rock shredder from the shrapnel record era (which tony macalpine is also on as well as cacophony)

Allan holdsworth is a jazz fusion guitarist known mostly for his atonal and mathematical appraoch as well as using is guitar much like a trumpetist would. (Much legato and cromatic lines involved)

Guthrie govan is a shred jazz rock guitarist. Just listen to his album erotic cake.
